I'm hoping to be shore fishing by Easter, I also just got a sparkly boat so I am sure it will be record late ice out this year, than it won't rain once this spring for planting should get to try the boat out about independence day

Nah...she's gonna open up fast...about 3 weeks ahead of last year. Fished Deepwater middle of April last year...still had 30 inches of solid ice...not this year gents...not this year.

Agreed ndfibfan! Lasted year on April 1st we still had the sleds out. This year, they were put away by the 15th of March, and I was just fine with it! I also have a new sparkle boat, been a long winter staring at it in the garage, just went back to the dealer this week for the finishing touches. I’ll be ready for open water and “marine engine Break-In season”! Lol

Water has come up a lot on Sak recently to where the shorelines have pulled away making a lot of ice fishing impossible on the big lake. She will be ice free sooner than later this year.

I can say with certainty Deepwater is not open. Nor is van hook. The ice coloration just changed or something.

The New Town area will very likely be fishable by the weekend. It probably would be already but a bunch of floating ice has gotten pushed in there from the wind. The dark holes back by bears den on the imaging is open water.

Good stuff...sure some brave souls will venture out somewhere on the west end this weekend.
