I'm 26 and am usually the one holding the door, but if not I always say thank you sir or ma'am knowing my father would kick my ass if not. There are still a few good kids out there

I feel the same way, im 19 and will wait for the next person to catch up and hold the door. I dont know how many times iv had a door closed in my face.

My kids are in elementary school in south Bismarck, and from day one, I have had the door held for me by students, nearly every single time, when I go in. BIG kudos to that school for teaching every kid (male and female) to hold the door for the person behind you. It still makes my face smile every single time.

So do you thank them? Haha

Such a great thread JonhR. I came across this today leaving work. Carry a lighter but awkwardly heavy end table. Boss who is female wanted it out so I lent a helping hand. Anywho there's a set of double dorrs I hit the handicap one and about to go through the second set when I hit the handicap again it opens and before I can go a female and two kids come barging though as if I'm in there way. ....... I put the table down kinda got out of there way opened the door for the younger children all the while she didn't say a fkn word to me. Not that this matters and I'm gonna be called racist but they were of the Asian variety'. Not only did they not help a person who obviously needed it (me) they didn't say thank you when I opened the door for them. I will be the 30 year old male with male pattern baldness setting in that slams the door on all Asians from now on if your wondering......rant over JonhR

The one that really chaps my ass is when I walk up to a glass double door and have the person on the other side beat me to the door by about 2 secondds and then just stand there and wait for me to open it. I do and then they barge through and no thank you is offered. It is usually an older lady or younger male. The last time it happened I just stood on the inside waiting for the peson to open the door, after a solid 5 to 7 second stand off the other person opened the door and I barged on through! Kinda felt justified, cause it was the same guy (in his later 20's) that had pulled a shitter on me the day before at a gas station here in Bismarck!

I opened the auto doors at fleet farm today and a whole herd of people from ages 8 to 70 walked right in and not one of them said "Thank You". Now I'm bummed.
