As of today we have seen over 30 ducklings and 4 different hens. They are all about 45 days old or maybe older. So today we see one hen with 4 little ones that are probably a week love. And another one that had 2 even smaller ones. Wifie called them sluts! So would this be a second hatch for one the earlier hens??? Or are these hens just very late???

Have you seen duck mating? It's definitely not the ladies running that game.
Hopefully they're all healthy.

Earlier this spring was driving down the street and seen 4 drake mallards flying after a hen. She made the mistake of landing in a yard and running into the only opening in some bushes up by a house with the 4 drakes right on her tail then I heard her holler “ What the F did I come in here for “ and then I heard her scream “Rape” 🤣

Hen turkeys store sperm and a clutch is predictably genetically diverse. I've wondered it fraternal twins can have different fathers...heard rumors, never saw it happen, would never participate: Choo Choo.

That is all.

I have not seen any mating going on. What I did see last evening was a very fierce fight.
The hen with the 2 new very little ones attacked another hen who got very close the the baby ducks. The mother went wildly at that hen had her by the neck and was shaking her and dragging her around for at least a very long minute. A lot of screaming going on.

Seen a rooster pheasant and a mallard drake going at it and I mean an outright brawl. I do think the rooster would win because his beak is sharp and he has spurs. LB

Lincoln, kinda...
I am going to guess the hens with really little ones lost their earlier brood. It happens, nature is brutal and there are a lot of hungry critters out there that like snacklets.
