What is the story from last weekends Dakota Walley Classic where some shenanigans were found with the fish and the wrong guys were accused of cheating?

Someone is injecting water into their fish. They suspected it last year and made some changes to the fish handling process which could have aided in catching the pricks. Unfortunately, the new process was not properly followed which allowed the cheaters to get away with it.

They are supposedly posting a video tonight that will have additional information on the whole deal.

But yes they did call a team to the trailer and then determined that that team was not involved in fish tampering. Director apologized to them on stage. He did also say that there was another team that was tampering with fish but at that time he was unable to verify the anglers. We will see what he has to say tonight.

Paid out. Some fish got mixed up when cleaning them and when they found out they had water in them some how they got put in wrong bag, so director can check it out. Don't think they will be able to tell. You see these kinds of things all the time and getting worse. What a pain for those putting on tournaments and he is former police officer. Cameras everywhere checking on boys big time it has happened before he said. I guess next year will be more ways to track who, what and where.

Seems like the AIM format would solve all this crap. Catch, measure and release.
But then you don't get the excitement and beer sales of a weigh in.

Ice cubes huh? I figured they take a needle and inject them with water. Incredible what people will do to win a tournament.

I’m actually incredibly surprised the turn out is as big as it is. Fishing against pros who livescope all day every day leaves the commoners chance at winning very low. Entry fee equals donation lol.

Anyone else here that some pro teams hire other fishermen to pre fish for them, sometimes as much as 1 to 2 weeks before a tournament.

The guy pre fishing marks the spots he catches fish at and then sends the SD card to the pro.

Its kind of like sitting at a poker table, if you don't know who the suckers are you're probably one of them. 90% of these tourney guys are the suckers and don't know it, simply a donation to build the prize pool for the other 10% that have a chance.

Most pro fisherman have an incredible network of friends and resources to help them in various ways at tournament locations, I have several of them as great friends. This might be lodging, bait (chubs), information, and even help in the boat throught the week. From my knowledge, it would have to be a pretty damn juicy waypoint for a pro to dish out more expenses in the hopes of catching a fish, but I can say that they will rely on their local friends/resources for information when they arrive. Many of the pros, including Tom Hyunh, arrive a week or more ahead of time to do their own homework these days. When they have been in Garrison in the past, it has been crazy to drive around to some of the homes I would never guess even walleye fished, but they have a pro staying there because they met and became friends somewhere along the line.

Every tournament seems to attract the attention of at least one pro these days, the high payouts, and friends at that venue attract them in. DWC had Tom Hyunh, Dewey Hjelm. ND Gov Cup had Drake Herd and Dean Marshall (multi year fisherman), and Montana Gov Cup has had the likes of Brett King, Joe Okada, Max Wilson, Owen Wilcox (local) etc.

tournaments bring out the worst in people.
Yep, not just fishing either. There's always a few people who'd cheat at anything to win nothing more than a used Kleenex as well as what they think are "Bragging Rights" to having won.
