Anyone else here that some pro teams hire other fishermen to pre fish for them, sometimes as much as 1 to 2 weeks before a tournament.
The guy pre fishing marks the spots he catches fish at and then sends the SD card to the pro.
Most pro fisherman have an incredible network of friends and resources to help them in various ways at tournament locations, I have several of them as great friends. This might be lodging, bait (chubs), information, and even help in the boat throught the week. From my knowledge, it would have to be a pretty damn juicy waypoint for a pro to dish out more expenses in the hopes of catching a fish, but I can say that they will rely on their local friends/resources for information when they arrive. Many of the pros, including Tom Hyunh, arrive a week or more ahead of time to do their own homework these days. When they have been in Garrison in the past, it has been crazy to drive around to some of the homes I would never guess even walleye fished, but they have a pro staying there because they met and became friends somewhere along the line.
Every tournament seems to attract the attention of at least one pro these days, the high payouts, and friends at that venue attract them in. DWC had Tom Hyunh, Dewey Hjelm. ND Gov Cup had Drake Herd and Dean Marshall (multi year fisherman), and Montana Gov Cup has had the likes of Brett King, Joe Okada, Max Wilson, Owen Wilcox (local) etc.
