I am thinking of upgrading my auger to this unit. It looks like it has good reviews. Any of you picked up one of these and can you give me your review? Specifically, the 8in. TIA.

I think a bigger question would be what do you use right now? All of these newer augers are pretty awesome. I ran an Ion G1 for a year, upgraded it to the composite bit for a year, then sold it...

Now I run a pistol bit up to 18" of ice and I picked up a smoking deal the Eskimo E40 late season last year. I'm extremely impressed with both of these augers.

Currently have a kdrill with the Milwaukee and a Clam plate. Had it for 6-7 yrs. Fish almost entirely on Devils. Usually have sharpened yrly b4 each ice fishing season. Had the old, reliable, heavy, Model 30 Jiffy(8in) for yrs before that. Put that one out to pasture about 7yrs ago. Kick myself to this day for not keeping it as a "spare"! Kinda like guns, a guy can't have too many!! haha I did pick up a used 10in jiffy at a rummage sale a few yrs back, however, and start it up every so often to get the "smell of yesteryear" haha

I have a k-drill and several gas/propane augers. I've only used it once so far and it's the only auger I haven't had to use any down force at all, just hang on and it pulls itself through the ice very quickly.

Thanks. I keep trying to talk myself into an electric, been running a K-Drill setup for 4-5yrs now after a bad back injury, its been better last couple years. Last few years I just don't get out like I used to.

I wasn't a big fan of my k-drill... maybe it was a blade issue... IDK, I never dug that far into it, but I am glad others like it. I tried running my JiffyPro4 on thick ice last year and had a lot of issues with it in two separate trips. The second day it happened I threw that Jiffy like an Olympian hammer throw. Despite my world record toss, I didn't feel better because I still couldn't fish. That day gave me the urge to buy a new E40.

I have used my Maven for the past 3 weeks. It has been totally impressive. Extremely light weight, I was leery of the plastic flighting on it but it has been great, extremely fast drilling and the variable speed drive is nice compared to my original Strikemaster 40V. Batteries are interchangeable with the old one too. Excellent auger

Maybe I should not look into threads like this, starts to make me want a new auger. Might have to dig into augers more sometime soon.
Anyone ever put a K-Drill on a Strikemaster Electric head?
I mainly ask because I would likely get a 10in and there are times that all I really need is my 7.5in K-Drill when targeting mostly panfish, but it would be nice to have the 10in option if I ever get back to running flags for pike.

I use my old 40v with an 8.25 chipper auger. Ive got a 10" shaver for it also, but the blades are too dull to cut anymore and I cant sharpen them like I do the 8" so I havent messed with it. Dont often need a hole bigger than 8 inches anyway.

Anyone ever put a K-Drill on a Strikemaster Electric head?

Is there a quick detach mechanism made for this combo for an easy swap in sizes? (I have all the K-Drill sizes)
