Love my old cast iron cookware. Periodically I will put it in the coals on the fire pit to reduce the build up on the outside of the pan and polish and re-season similar to the above video. I agree the smooth inside is superior to the rough inside.

OK. Watched both videos and this dude contradicts himself. First he polishes the pan with sandpaper to remove the "texture" and then uses simmering vinegar to "etch" the surface of the pan. Etching creates the same "texture" he just ground off with sandpaper. Mrs. KDM uses her pans daily and none of this stuff was done to them and they work just fine. Minimal to ultimately no food sticking. She uses bacon grease to season her pans. Seems like a whole lot of effort for very little benefit IMO. Carry On!

No. It looked parkerized before his efforts. I'd love a skillet that "slick".
