Battery operated coolers

Anyone have any experience with these portable refrigerator coolers. We are going on a family vacation and
Im intrigued about not dealing with ice.

I bet they would work well for minnows on the boat too!!

I bought a SetPower 56 qt. model a couple of years ago to use for camping and it works great. I use 2 LiFePo4 100 aH lithium batteries wired in parallel to run it and keep the batteries charged with a portable 200 watt solar panel. The batteries will run the fridge about 4 days without being recharged but the solar panel will keep them charged pretty indefinitely as long as there is some sun each day. The fridge has 2 compartments, one large and one small, and you can set the compartments to different temps so you can have one a fridge and one a freezer or both the same. The 56 qt. is about the biggest size you can get and it will hold more than 2 weeks of food and drinks for me when I go camping. They also make a 36 qt. and a 48 qt. If you set one side to freezer temp it will keep everything frozen solid and you can even make ice. All the SetPower models work on AC or DC and you can plug it in to a cigarette lighter outlet in your car while you drive then plug it in to a generator or shore power outlet at the campground. I paid $368 delivered from Amazon. The pictures are of the fridge in the back of my Duramax and the portable solar panel.

I like to leave my big Yeti on the pontoon from weekend to weekend, however when getting back to the lake at the start of the weekend, I have to put a fresh layer of ice on it as under the tarp, and a week of 95* heat makes short order of it.

Thinking with solar panels I could make this system last all summer, keeping the beer cooler and few left over beers each week stay nice and cold.

Might look into this set up a bit deeper

I’d have thought the yeti under a tarp would make ice…grin.
In all actuality those coolers are amazing. When we pack them for elk hunting in September with dinners and only open them 1 a day to take out that night’s supper they keep the food cold the whole 10-12 days
