Probably not. I paid off my 30yr mortgage in 7 years and was debt free @ 35.No way in hell you could even come close to my level of conservative. Take that to the bank.
I can't top that but my point being we don't live beyond our means or even close to it. That doesn't mean Im going to defend paying $5.50 a gallon Diesel for the better of America because this is nothing but a huge boat anchor to the economy.Probably not. I paid off my 30yr mortgage in 7 years and was debt free @ 35.
I didn't mean for my comments to sound like I was accusing you or your family specifically of not understanding how to live within their means. You said you were concerned for your grand-children and I merely pointed out something a grandpa, ANY grandpa, could easily do, for free without handing grandkiddo $$$ that would be a true help.My two boys have each flipped 3 houses at age 40. they made improvements and finished the basements themselves and made out like fat rats. We are far from lazy , stupid or poor but that doesn't mean we should be OK with $ 5.50 diesel and over $ 4.00 gas just because we can afford it. And by the way, we change our own oil and I have a roll of wijndsheild wiper rubber in my garage that I bought for less than one set of store bought blades . I paid everything off when I retired but does that mean I should be OK if my "bills" have damn near doubled since I retired ?
You are 100% correct , it does work , we sat our kids down and had very strict rules growing up for them and money , any money they received 1/2 was fun money the other 1/2 went into savings account etc. Summer jobs and all . To this day they bring it up and how well that worked . They used it on their kids alsoI didn't mean for my comments to sound like I was accusing you or your family specifically of not understanding how to live within their means. 1. Sitting grandkids down and explaining why it's important and then creating a budget. Of course then the less fun part, but the part that truly matters, following-up occasionally to see if the lessons sunk in and how things are going for them whether they did or didn't adhere to the budget.
2. I pointed out some seeming small "money-suck" expenses where money is EASILY saved that can add up to significant $$$ each week, month, year. "Small Conveniences" being an ENORMOUS contributor to "Where did all my $$$ go?".
My parents, grandparents, and some of my aunts/uncles were all quick to point out: "Save Some" when kids opened B-Day/Christmas, Confirmation, Graduation, etc. presents that contained cash.
Neither you, I, nor likely anyone on NDA has enough $$$ or political clout to change fuel pricing short term. 100%, a person needs to vote their own conscience regarding whom they believe will put the nation on the heading that aligns with their own priorities. That said, I was pointing out a few things a person can do to help others understand and possibly better manage their finances when things aren't going the way they'd prefer.
I believe he thinks it all just is a big political game.Is there any merit to trumps claim that has prices will drop like a lead balloon after midterms ? I don't understand where he is coming from.
Both sides are morrrrre than guilty of it lol.. Memory knows that enough let alone history.I believe he thinks it all just is a big political game.
Price manipulation to sway the elections.
What else is new?
Thank goodness I take the change out of my pockets each night. Quarters go in a 5Qt ice cream bucket, pennys, nickels, and dimes go in a bigger tin. Getting rid of that daily makes it easier to reach the bottom of my pocket.Structurally the market looks bad. Really bad. SPR is nearing all time lows. Both straits are slowed if not stopped. Saudi pipeline shut down after attack. Tanker transit costs 8x higher than pre Iran war. I hope we don’t find the breaking point.
High oil helps Russia and prolongs the war with Ukraine. Iran does better too. Big Oil cashes in. And the pee ons just keep digging further into their pockets.
I do too. But many don’t have any change left and that will be the larger undoing of the economy.Thank goodness I take the change out of my pockets each night.
