does anybody know the exact wording on the legislation? Is the hike in taxes payable capped at 3% annually or is the valuation capped at 3% annually. Because if it’s not the “tax amount” capped at 3% they’ll just jack the mills to the moon

The way I understand it is if your property taxes are $3000 in 2025, they can only raise the taxes $90 for the 2026 year. Which =s 3%

But there is nothing in the law that doesn’t allow them to increase the value of your property to whatever they want.

I’m guessing that the shitty of Minot will raise the value of my property to whatever it needs to, to get my taxes to increase 7 to 8% of the previous years property taxes. 🤬

It’s actually one of the few things California got right. Property tax is based on the purchase price of home and capped at 1 or 2 percent a year. Now if we did that and maybe made corporations pay instead of giving them breaks left and right maybe we could actually move forward with getting rid of taxes on primary dwellings.
Preaching to the choir, I have posted this solution many times on this site, but the socialists say it wont work. Keep funding the insanity, and eventually the insanity will destroy everything.
Taxes and spending are out of control I'm afaid to say, its time to hunker down and quit looking to the government as a solution, that only makes it worse in 100% of the case.
Vote yes on measure one.

In northern MN where I live the county assessor comes bye every 5 years he said, and with his I pad has every inch of your property and dozens of photos of every building's measurements too. They know more about my property than I do !!

Regarding Measure One----If Armstrong is for it...It must be very bad for ND citizens. Everything this RINO does is anti ND citizens. If this passes it will make it much more difficult for the citizens to have a voice. If the legislature passes a bill with 50% it would take the citizens 60% to overrule it.

Vote NO on measure one!

You assume all eligible voters actually vote. In the last election, only 43% of eligible voters actually voted, and historically the voter turnout is higher when its a presidential election.
So I suspect this election will be below the 43% turnout, which means maybe 20% can ram a constitutional change through and mandate more "free" stuff.

I don't think you understand the measure wally. It only applies to constitutional ballot measures, not statutory ballot measures that don't alter the constitution.
It should be hard to change the constitution, not easy.
Vote Yes on measure one.

PS: where is all the funding coming from to push the free lunch measure 2?
Measure 2 is a constitutional change and if passed that will be MANDATORY spending for all eternity.
What's next, free healthcare for all? Taxpayer funded abortions?
Its a very slippery slope

If we really want to get the power back to the citizens, we have to initiate a ballot measure to the constitution that bans ALL out of state PAC money and corporate money and institution money to all politicians along with supporting any legislative actions. If measure one passes the citizens power will be further diminished. I'm sure if this would pass some corrupt judge would overturn it. The system is so corrupt that we the people are damned either way!
