I bet FB hopes you allow politics back on the side bar instead of out of sight and only for those who really want to go look at same few people patting themselves on the back about how conservative they are. Letting it overtake this site would be a sure way for them to get many of their old visitors back.

I see some politics affecting my sport of hunting so I like to follow it. If you don't watch politicians they will all shaft you. So I would like to see an easier way to get to the political discussion. On non election years it isn't as important, but since I do believe America is important to us all, and our hunting heritage is important to everyone here ----------- well we are either responsible citizens or we are not. I tried to sign onto the political form, but I am still missing most of the posts. Guess I better not apply for a job with Microsoft.

Lets change the question a bit, what would you hope to gain by changing it Vollmer? Is it just clicks you're looking for or what?

I think political discussions are one of the things that keeps people engaged and active. Hiding it or making it out of the way keeps people who might participate out of these discussions. This is bad for the site and also takes away from these discussions. I will participate in political discussions occasionally, but I usually dont go looking for them, or any other discussions for that matter.

Also, while some of the topics may not interest some of the people here, politics plays a very important role in the lives of every one of us. Outdoor interests are constantly under attack from many directions and peoples willingness to play a part in our political system is the only thing that will keep the politicians from screwing us over....

Lastly, page hits keeps sites alive. It would be in the best interest of this site itself to keep the discussions as active as possible.

Lycan out....

At the risk of the wrath of svn .......................Here is the question I would like people to explain as now I am confused.

Back when first starting on this site, a small handful of the lilly livered folks left a handful of bad rep points on my profile annonymously.

I questioned teh wisdom of it and had it explained to me in detail how the rep system was a valuable asset to this site as it allowed the members themselves to police the site and those posting.

I was assured that it was a tool only to keep people that would cause problems in check. In theory it would certainly keep those in line that people are worried about in the politics deal and allow for worthwhile discussions.

After a bit of discussion it seemed reasonable the rep deal was for the intended purpose.

Now suddenly it seems that tool is suddenly no longer an effective means for members to do what it was intended for them to do.

I really don;t care where political discussion end up or how volmers deals with this, but don;t lay two different lines of BS out there.

Either the rep deal works as claimed or it will not.

I think the rep thing has not exactly proven itself out yet. It may work exactly as planned which is what you and I hope. It's like having a pet fox, you don't let it sleep in the henhouse on the first night. Geez I suck at analogies

For greatly increased click-count, try to build up the classifieds section. Put the last 10 classifieds in a side-bar. The classifieds generate an enormous number of clicks for 24hrcampfire and Snipershide.

As a young boy I was afraid of the dark, believed the boogie man was real. As I grew older and "braver" the dark was less scary, and the boogie man was more Santa clausish.
If you cant help yourself from clicking on a topic that is labeled political when it is on the sidebar, is the boogie man real?

My dad would tell me not to use fowl language as a kid, but even though I knew I shouldn't I did sometimes anyway. Is that what the problem is with you fella's and the inability to not click on a topic labeled political? Is your dad telling you not too, but you still find yourself doing it anyway.

I am with some on here that have no interest in the Sioux name, or the fantasy play time football thingy's. I am somehow able to either ignore them, or skim through and try to understand some of the passion behind it.

Politics are at least real, and effect us all. I work mostly alone, I have a couple of ladies in the office, but know better than to talk politics in the office. It is sometimes fun, and educational to discuss them on a site with guys that are likely, like me.

It can stay hidden at the bottom, it can go on the sidebar like #guywithgoodideas suggested, it can be placed where ever V wants it. But damn it guys if it says political and you don't like it, effen don't open it and "ruin" your life with it. It seems so mother f#@king simple.

Gst is trying to be the alpha dog...

Hey the view is better for the lead dog. :)

But please explain your analysis for us if you would. I am curious how peoples minds work and would like to hear how you came to that conclusion.

I should probably give you negative rep for this personal attack as well as file a report to the monitor for bullying but I don't know how............or really care.

Besides I used up all my rep thingys giving good rep to the cool people today.

How about this.... Add an option to our profiles. If we want politics to show on our thread or not. Or, better yet, have all your categories listed and let the user check for each topic if they want new stuff in that category to show up. That way those who miss their old Fishingbuddy ability to beat the same message into each other can and those of us who've had enough of the far righties and far lefties repeating the same old talking points over and over and over don't have too.

Knowledge is power. The more you read, the more you learn. It don't matter how old you are, you are constantly learning things til your last day on earth. Reading random threads, no matter what the content is, expands your knowledge. Some threads are simply interesting to read just to see how other people's minds work. The more threads to read, the better. This site a a good little place for people to expand their minds on many different topics, whether it's about fishing, or it's about how dirty most politicians are. I click on a bunch of threads that don't pertain to my interests nor affect my life, but I still click em and read em, without bitchin about them being there.

The pole numbers are clear. I understand why some think they should be on the left side-bar, but the majority of members clearly don't like that way. I Respect V and his decision to have this poll, I just hope he listens to his members instead of a VOCAL MINORITY.
