Full choke 12 gauge sounds like cornfield pass shooting. Hunt with good pointers or flushers and close shots are common. Even later in the season. Getting the gun up fast becomes more important than long range shooting.

12 ga with 3 inch #2 steel. I know that sounds like overkill on early season roosters, but that combo patterns well in my gun so I stick with it. I just have to let those close birds get a bit more...not so close.

I have always liked the color of the Federal 20ga. shells. Wanted one so bad when I was really young but never got one until I was older(buy my own older). I hinted to my Dad about the gun they had in our little hardware store(I don't remember the brand or model) but farming was tough back then and there were 4 other kids.

I shoot a 28ga for opener. I hunt behind a pointer and like shooting birds over my dog. After opener I like my 20ga Beretta. Late season shoot 3". I've blown a good amount of birds to pieces with the 20! I couldn't tell you the last time I've used the 12ga. That Beretta 20 is awesome for carrying in the field!

I've only seen yellow fed 20ga, hence my attempt at humor.

riverview - are you a leftie?

I am right-handed and I was pondering my extreme left-to-right suckage at skeet - and concluded that right-to-left shots are way easier for me because a right-handed person is then pulling their gun across with their left hand - like swinging a golf club or bat.

With left-to-rights a right-handed shooter is pushing the gun across with their left hand... very unnatural.

Maybe there are some lefties here who struggle predominantly with the right-to-left shots?

Ill throw a wrinkle in your theory, guy. I'm a lefty on the golf course and batters box but shoot right handed. The eye dominance test can go either way with me. But I agree, pulling across the shot rather than pushing seems to be much easier.

you are what we call an outlier... like quasimodo or elephant man

you are useless as a test subject because you are a walking enigma

other than that you're pretty neat though :D

I like a PG for "longer range", late season heavier glove stuff. I'd love to have a little wand for early upland. I'm not going to get one until I can afford an "heirloom".

My 12 because that is what I shoot for everything. Starting to become a lot better shot than I used to be. But you guys got me thinking. Maybe I will break out the Citori 20 this year for more than doves.
