My wife left for a little trip with her friends for a few days. I am sure the boys and I will miss her, but the one thing that excites me a menu free for all. No "I don't want to eat that for supper" lines for us for a while.:D For lunch I cooked up a pound of bacon and buttered up some toast. Sons and I had some bacon sandwiches. I think I am going to thaw out some dove breasts for later or tomorrow. And after that, who knows what will be laying on my plate? Ha ha.

What do you boys pull out of preverbial mans cook book when you have free reign of the kitchen?

Rooster nuggets is always a hit. A couple lbs of walleye made in butter topped with Ricks seasoning. BLTs with extra bacon and jalapeños usually is good.

Probably odd, but I make a tuna casserole of sorts. Wife hates it. I cant get enough of it.

Rick's seasoning from Mobridge?
I like to chunk some walleye and bacon wrap it, slow cooked on the grill in garlic butter. I learned this is Alaska, however it was halibut chunks. Hell of a way to spend a few hours after salmon and halibut fishing all day. Drink a few Alaska Amber's and halibut appetizers. Tonight it is a heavily peppered deer loin and some of those little potatoes fried in butter.

Homemade lutefisk and horseradish with bleu cheese on rye. Side of deviled eggs for good measure.

Lots of pizza for the kids and i....and bud light for myself. I love cooking, however unless my wife is around or its a simple meal to put together, id rather not mess with the hassle of 3 bugger eaters running around while i try and prep a meal. Kudos to my wife for being able to to it.

My wife is away for home atleast 3 days a week for work. So I do most of the cooking even when she is home. When she is gone fish and deer are on the menu quite often.

Venison pepper steak.

Add diced and sliced onions, red peppers, green peppers, yellow peppers, minced garlic, soy sauce, water chestnuts, to a deep fry pan and cook until the onions are opaque. Pan sear venison cubes in butter in a separate pan and then add all ingredients to the deep fry pan along with cream of mushroom soup. Cook until everything is slowly boiling and then serve over wild rice with garlic toast and a green vegetable along with a crisp salad. A good red wine goes very well with this dish.

No kids to cook for but that's when back straps and other wild game comes out. Or pizza.

It's a good time to make a couple racks of ribs and/or a brisket in the oven while drinking too much with a loud stereo. Prepare meat, season to taste adding some liquid smoke, wrap in foil and bake at 170 for eight, nine or ten hours; whatever, at least eight. Don't forget the drinking and nudity.

Good stuff. As many bbq ribs that will fit in the crock pot. Version too. My mouth is watering already.

Cut open half way through tater tots. Insert a sliver of Sharp Cheddar. Wrap in bacon. Toothpick it together and bake in the oven. Drain on napkin/paper towel. Cold brew.
