Does the recent concern on swearing have anything to to with a certain new member?

Or maybe even an old one that was hiding. Hopefully we will still be able to use the word bullshit. ;)

Other than that, not much need for cussin on a site like this is there?

Really makes no difference to me. The use of some words may be unnecessary at times, but it does not offend me in any way.

I just voted and now there is a pretty even split between "let it go" and "negate it" which tells me that there are enough people that don't especially like it and speaking as one of those people, I can look past some but if every post was riddled with it, I would just quit looking. That doesn't mean I don't chuckle at some of the phrases you characters put together. If everyone could self-moderate themselves, I think we would be fine as I haven't seen anything excessive yet but I don't read every thread either so maybe I don't see it all. Just M2C.

Have you guys hovered your cursor over the little green/red dot above your avatar? It's kinda funny.

Lincoln, kinda...
As others have mentioned, I am guilty of letting myself get carried away but overall I tend to try and control my verbiage. I find it funny that I can go all day around kids and not let an F-bomb fly, but put me in with adults and that's not likely the case.

Like with most things, everything in moderation even though I recognize that my definition of moderate is a lot different than that of others. I have noticed lately that bloggers, columnists, and "journalists" that post on Yahoo have taken to using non-French, French words a lot as of late.

who is brooks?

anyway, i'm bout as guilty as anyone when it comes to dropping the occasional profane word. i do however find it funny that "fu8k" or "f&^k" is acceptable to some and "fuck" is not. as if the exclusion and/or addition of one or two particular letters somehow changes the context or connotation. same goes with using lame ass words as PC replacements for its four letter counterpart. for example, i find "who the fudge does he think his is?" much more offensive than "who the fuck does he think he is?". the two phrases have the exact same meaning and connotation. however, the prior assumes that i am some PC pansy ass who is overly sensitive to words. whereas, at least the speaker of the latter is giving me the benefit of the doubt that i am able to sort thru context and make my own judgments on the speaker and his or her statements without putting too much stake in how they may or may not use a particular four lettered adverb, verb, noun, adjective or idiom.

as far as the site is concerned, do whatever the hell you want. its no skin off of my tongue. however, i've never noticed it to be much of a problem. maybe that's because i am the problem. :;:huh
