sak, I understand what can happen in the spring with unplugged shotguns and magazine ext to boot ( I have 2 of them) however I could have an infinite number of rounds and if 60 yards was the closest they got, in yesterdays WNW wind they would be past 70 yards on shot number 2. unless there is a pile of birds in that came up your narrow corridor that you hunted. as we all have reports from friends all over the southern part of the state and no one that I talked to saw the pure volume of birds needed to have your hunt in the conditions you describe.

again call me what you want but I wont apologize for not believing everything I see on the internet.

if you did that yesterday in all honesty congrats because the deck was stacked against you

I just don't understand some of u goose hunters. 3 guys, 41 birds. Average just over 13 birds for each guy. What volume of birds do I need to make this shoot possible. We had 4 flocks where we got 5-7 birds out of. Maybe seen 5000 total birds most of which stayed up and kept on going to the north. This wouldn't have to be explained to novice snow goose hunters.

So the birds decoyed alot closer than 60 yards. Buy the time it was shot 3 they would have been 100 plus yards away. But this is just my average at best probably below average snow gecse killer of a guy guessing i am

wow! Automatic shotguns. Split second from first shot to the second. No, there were no kills at 100 yards. I also said most birds were in that 60 yard range, some closer, some farther. There's a reason guys use full choke tubes to hunt snows.

I shoot a 28 " bbl wingmaster with a full choke all the time. Just closing your eyes and pulling the trigger as fast as you can means nothing. Plus you have a nfa just to have an automatic shot gun for snow goose hunting thats cool.

I have a friend that I fish with quite a bit. Not long after I had first met him, he was telling me a fishing story. After he was done, I said jokingly, "pics or it didn't happen." He looked at me and said "F you, I don't have to show you sh*t to prove my story is true". I laughed and it became an inside joke. Any time someone says "pics or it didn't happen" to me, I just quote my buddy. Feel free to quote my buddy SAK.

again I do the sem auto thing, benalli M2 to be exact with an anaconda mid range patternmaster choke.... ( mid range meaning up to roughly 50 yards) why because I don't hit shit much beyond it. I would consider my self way below avg to way above avg shot depending on the day.

so now your saying you killed 40 geese with half coming from 4 flocks with 3 guns with an avg shot at first shot at 40- 60 yards...come on man

owell its your fish story, tell it like you see it.

Is it legal to use 4 buck on geces in the spring as long as a guy doesnt shoot over water?

you can do whatever you want in the spring as long as you don't get caught....3 springs ago we were hunting front edge and I drove by prolly 2-3k roosting in a small pond in our field and they wouldn't fly it took all my power not to fkn let 9 shot ring out into that...

heres a report. travel N of Bismarck for work 2-3x per week. today. I wouldn't call it a mass exodus south but the lesser were strung from painted woods creek to dam near 83 were it turns to wilton all heading SE. plenty still heading out to feed. 1 snow that I saw mixed in. it appears this cold snap is slowing it down again

the smelt had a bad hatch last year so the year class will be at least 13-14 its going to be a tough year on leading edge birds with the low pressure systems followed by the calcuta clippers

it is snowing here so the leading edge is being turned back south but will be 65 on sunday so the edge will be back to leading north

If geces become shy of decoy spreads set out a pile of jalepeno cheetos. They will soar in for the crunchy goodness. Even the 2006 year classes will dive bomb into to the cheesy glory hole...

I do have to disagree with this quote. If I had birds at 60 yds I would have 5 shots dumped before they react to the first shot . At 60 yds your not picking out a bird and shooting it. Your just spraying shot out there hoping to knock something down. With that being said a 60 yd shot is a long shot for anyone. Have I knocked down bird at 60 yds, yes but not very often. And I have hunted snow geese for 45 yrs.

If you arent picking out birds at 60 yards it is pure luck to hit them. A 60 yard shot on geces is a normal shot. I imagine you shoot just steel and not heavy shot. With cheap steel the bb's bounce off at 60.

And you don't think a 60 yd is pure luck. I have shot lots of Bismouth and Tungstein Iron and Heavy shot and 60 yds is a long shot with all of them. And really a 60 yd shot is a normal shot. You must be hunting with some other guy on this forum.

are you poking fun at timmers?

haha I would have to say juvies, can prolly be up to 3 year old non-breeding birds so what fellas year classes 2015, 2014 and 2013 coming up this spring. I will try to post pictures and identify year classes later this spring.

how much snow you get KurtR? I chased down a couple "clouds" on my ride home and sure enough all darks found feeds of 100 birds up to 5-7k lesser I suppose but no snows. lotta birds heading south on the drive back home as well

joking on the pictures of year classes by the way
