Ok, so got out this morning around 6am to try out the Texas and Carolina rigs for the Lake Darling Fishing Outlet. I had no luck with hooking any fish, but they DID seem to help with the reedy areas so thank you for that advice, fellas. I ALSO learned that my six foot fishing net is *not* long enough to scoop out fish once you do hook any however. At least, from that main pier. First hooked and reeled in a lil 15 inch-ish pike and couldn't get him up high enough to get into my net before he decided to thrash free. I didn't have a good set in him though. A little while later, I hooked a pretty decent sized pike, fought him over to the pier, once again COULD NOT get him with my net. By this time someone else was there and off to the left side on the other pier.
*If you're reading this, I apologize for the cursing* lol I moved along my pole to get him into the reeds to try and reach better, but still couldn't get him, then my line snapped above my lead. Much cursing was involved.... After that, I said fuck this and packed up and down to Silver Bridge. By that time it was around 8am or so and a little warmer, about 55 degrees.
Overcast stuck around for about an hour, no bites. Then the pike started biting there. Reeled in a smaller one at 16 inches and tossed him back in, then after two more casts, I landed a good sized pike at 33 inches. He came home with me. Attached are pics from today's adventures. Happy fishing, y'all
