Im still not a fan of the one tag system. I do understand the idea behind it and semi agree but bowhunting, at least in my case is likely the most “days afield” type of hunting. The success rate has gone up I’ll agree to that but the hunter hours into it is a lot higher as well compared to rifle. On top of that the sales of tags that go unfilled is higher as well so in a sense the game and fish csn sell multiple tags for one deer so to speak as opposed to a one tag system. I get a bow tag yearly but I don’t fill it every year. Depending on the year I may go out a lot just to sit or like last year I bought a tag and never touched my bow. Something definitely needs to be done if the deer numbers dont start coming back up. Maybe a lottery for bow? I know a lottery and license cap is sorely needed for badlands Muleys for sure. My old man and I were talking about the shit show deer hunting has become and he told me back in the day the zone he hunted had a deal where if you drew a muley or “any buck” tag you were ineligible for it the following year….. maybe we need to implement a “sit out year” rule for all buck tags for rifle season. I don’t know if that would improve odds yearly or not but taking out a large pool of applicants who drew bucks the previous year may improve oddsI still play the game for rifle and muzzy but it actually might be time for a one tag system. No gratis tags either...at this point I could care less if one deer is left in ND. The management for habitat and opportunity has passed. Fence row to fence row....actually there are zero fence rows now. Sad. Pure Greed
