From those land owners out there that have had something happen. Could you give me some examples? Did they leave a gate open etc...

We've had numerous gates left open over the years with a couple visits from the Sheriff's office to complain about our cattle being out on the road. The last 10-15 years, it's been mostly pipeline crews though as they monitor their easement across a pasture of ours.

As far as "hunters" in particular, we've had old vehicles shot up, windows shot out of the abandoned house, stuff stolen from the house (mostly odd collectibles like glasses and jars, but to include an old wood/coal kitchen stove). Fences have been driven through in the pursuit of game, which really irked me as I was the one who had to fix them. Garbage has been left in the fields where game was field dressed, mostly rubber gloves, paper towels, pop cans, cand wrappers, etc. Deer and other critters poached and left to rot.

Best part of it all, I bet I know 90% of the people that did it.

... telling landowner where they are allowed to hunt on their own land, driving where not supposed to.

This probably isn't good enough for any of you but this is off the top of my head of our issues over the years

That one right there is one of the best. Back in the late 90s I lived in GF and wasn't back home nearly as often during deer season as I transitioned to hunting units in the central and eastern part of ND. Since this was during the good times of plentiful tags, I started getting extra doe tags out in my home unit (3B1) just so I could have an easy time of filling the freezer with a few does on the last weekend, even if I spent most of my season out east looking for a buck. Anyway, one year I go home and ask my parents if anyone else had permission to hunt the place, the answer was no...so I thought it would be an easy day spent filling three doe tags. As I was loading up my 2nd doe, I ran into a group of hunters who happened to be long-time family friends. I asked them to leave a single coulee unwalked because I had spooked a few does into it earlier and thought I'd go back after I hung my first two up. They got super pissed at me and eventually told me that they hadn't seen me hunt there in years (again, I only showed up the last week for a day or two towards the end of the season each of the past few years). Their solution...I should call ahead and ask them if I could hunt it.

Needless to say, they haven't legally hunted our land since. Just effing stupid how that all unfolded.

That's arrogance on steroids.
