The people of North Dakota have overwhelmingly supported free school lunch. To all that are not in favor, where do you suggest this money goes instead? If not into education where should it go?

How about back in my pocket?
I have no problem paying for whatever my family needs. That's my responsibility. I don't need to pay for everyone else. There's far too much of that crap going on in this country already. Nothing is "free".

I somehow with my limited skill set, basic education, and terrible personality have always somehow figured out how to feed my 4 kids without needing my neighbor to step in. I knew off the bat, having a kid meant I needed to feed, clothe, and care for them.
This is the thing that needs to be hammered home. Maybe teach this in school.

I have no doubt it will pass. People think free means free. Your comment makes it sound like there is a pile of money that didn't once come from a taxpayer that we need to spend. I am all for giving people a hand up but making more people dependent on government welfare is not good for anyone. Everyone that is getting help should be striving to get off of it so they can make it on their own.

man, this is really quite the question
Instead of not taxing we the people unnecessarily or even returning it to we the people, I think we should instead of free lunches for everyone just open up some free learing centers and free daycares, and amend the ND constitution to prohibit any and all investigations into the free learing centers and daycares. We would have criminals policing the criminals, what could possibly go wrong?

I cant wait to vote down the elimination of property taxes again! The government is neat!

The tax rate for income tax back when initiated was 3%, and was supposed to be temporary.

Well now its for me anyway at 24% fed tax rate...

Yep we need more "free" shit

Dumb question- with this proposal, where is the funding coming from? General fund? Future fund or whatever the oil kitty is? Just curious for my own context. I’m in SD and hope they tax the crap out of you lol!

FYI
Our church in south GF gives money on an as needed basis for lunches, backpacks, supplies, warm clothes etc. This happens on an as needed basis. The school social worker calls the church. This is for two of the newest schools in south GF.

I am not against helping out. But this should NOT be in the Constitution.

Why not allow people to keep more of the money they have earned to pay for their own children's food.

Programs always start with good intentions and then boom:

Stealing from the taxpayer is unfortunately not a phenomenon limited to blue states.

Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins made an appearance on "The Ingraham Angle" to speak about the issue, revealing that in red states, hundreds of thousands of people are cheating the system.

"Fraud and abuse in the SNAP program, the food stamp program, will end. And please be our partner in this," Rollins told Laura Ingraham.

Democrat-run states were unwilling to cooperate, but the Republican states were willing: "29 states responded. All but two were of course red states, Republican governors, and they said yes, we are in."

"And within that data dump, billions of pieces of data that we're now sharing with the states, we found 500,000 people getting more than one benefit illegally. We found 244,000 dead people," she told the host.

"This is just the red states," she continued. "We have now arrested 895 different people in the last year for illegally using the food stamp system."

"And now, of course, we're talking about what is happening with that money. So, we're making a lot of progress," Rollins continued.
