I just don’t see how Measure 1 is a citizen vs legislature issue. Either citizens change the constitution with 50.1% approval or citizens change it with 60%. How do legislators factor in?

who put it on the ballot?

The legislators factors in
BECAUSE THEY PUT IT ON THE BALLOT
So are you voting for a free breakfast and lunch for all?

Honeslty I think voting age should be changed to 30, because kids are less mature than they were 100 years ago and its proven human brains keep developing until at least age 25...

It would count more if measure 1 passes with a yes vote, will make it harder for the progressives to change our constitution, like measure 2 is going to do. Get your wallet out, the free stuff is just starting.
If progressives were to take control like some are so worried about and conservatives want to make amendments it will be more difficult due to the extra 10% of votes needed. About half the state votes so that would be 40,000 more republican votes needed.

I guess it is time to hold out my palm and get mine.

If the progressives take control, and we are shifting that way, especially the young people, the conservatives wont be making any changes or amendments. We are becoming the minority.
Case and point will be measure 2 in this election cycle.
I hope I am wrong though.

So are you voting for a free breakfast and lunch for all?

Yet here you are still beating that dead horse on post 81

Please tell me how to vote, I am confused and don't have the intellect to understand, you appear to be the smartest person on this thread, please tell me how to vote O wise one.
Check Voting Info

Last post on this as I feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this point, but I believe there is still confusion about the measures:

If the law is real bad we at least have a chance to reverse it again with 51%. At 60% the initiated measures will almost certainly not make it.
This does nothing to the initiated measure process. Laws can still be placed into century code with a 50% threshold.

The constitution should be held to the highest standard. If it only takes crossing a 50% threshold to change the constitution, then maybe bond referendums should be lowered to 50% as well.

I completely agree, well said.

I’m still confused did measure one get the 60% of the vote it wanted ? it must have gotten at least 50% because we all know that 50% of the vote is easy to receive

It didn't need 60% to pass, only 50% plus one vote. It was to change the threshold for approval to 60%.
And your right, 50% of the vote is easy to receive, to easy in fact, for constitutional changes.

Yes it does, and also how few actual votes can actually change our constitution simply because the majority doesn't even vote, measure 2 failed by less than 3000 votes

We would not be giving the legislature more power, it still comes down to a vote by we the people to change our constitution.
The hatred for our local elected officials is intense, I get it, and for good reasons.

In my opinion, a no vote is a vote for yielding to professional political influencers. To the so called progressives, who are actually socialist. Do we really want to shift to socialism, where everything is free and the government has a solution to all our so called issues.
I vote a hard no on that.

We need to protect our our laws and way of life from outside influencers who want to manipulate it.
By giving elected officials more gatekeeping authority or raising the standard to amend the constitution, the state and we the people are better protected against outside progressive (socialist) groups trying to test experimental or radical policies that do not align with a traditional North…..

You know the easiest way to do this? Ban out of state mo ey and lobbying in these issues. Make them money come from grass roots, in state donors. The only reason crap gets on the ballot is because of huge outside influences of money. If 51% of people in my state support a change that was driven 100% inside the state, then I can accept it. But raising the threshold to just try to out smart the big spending from outside. Fix the source of the issue and keep each states values as they want them to be.
