    Boat cranking &/or dual purpose batteries are built heavy duty on the plate housing to take the beating of the waves in a boat (much worse than a car/pick-up). Also be sure to use good fittings and secure the nuts rather than finger tight wing nuts,

    I have the Scheel's ONE, a 7 foot spinner, for general purpose, casting jigs, and smaller cranks...great rod with very good feel.

    Smoked walleye jerky

    Leaving the skin on does not seem to add a fishy taste. it does serve purposes: prevents too much dry-out while smoking, holds the fillets together better, and makes for easier handling.

    What the hell is this thing??

    Had a Labradoodle--Marley. Shed a very little bit, but a bugger to comb/brush. As all doodles, he was a smart and easily trainable pet.

    Smoked walleye jerky

    I have a friend that smokes walleye fillets, skin-on & rib/pin bones in, with a similar brine & cherrywood about 1-1&1/2 hours. Very good! We just peel the skin off, pull the rib bones, & zipper the pins.

    Be sure to book your full day/half day charter trip ahead of time--almost always full on day-of. Plenty of charters on The Spit to Homer.
