That big chunk of plots land in the badlands

This is some very nice property. Used to do a lot of hunting in this area. I will be out there in September along with everyone else. Let's just hope people actually respect the property and don't ruin it for everyone else. This is a huge chunk of land that will provide lots of opportunities for...

    Thieving Bastards!

Can anyone recommend a good lock for the bulldog style locking couplers? I picked up one of these and there is a lot of wiggle room. The coupler won't close with the lock inserted all the way up. https://www.etrailer.com/Locks/Fastway/DT25013.html

    Thieving Bastards!

I'll be using coupler locks going forward. The bolt cutter made short work of my padlock. Are there any other locks that work well to prevent trailer theft? I suppose a tire boot would be the only thing that would keep it from going anywhere.

    Thieving Bastards!

There is nothing worse than a thief! Apparently somebody needed my 6x10 ATV trailer more than I do. Little to no chance of finding it, and it sounds like insurance companies don't consider trailers to be personal property that's covered under your homeowners insurance. I guess you're supposed to...

    Spotting Scope recomendations

Swarovski, Vortex, or Maven. I've never looked through the mavens, but have heard some great things about them. I have the swaro 20-60 65mm HD and like it. Not saying it's any better than the vortex razor. For the money, I think it's pretty tough to beat vortex. Straight vs. angled depends more...

Well this is going to get interesting

I've always hated these f*ckers, but now this gives me an even better reason. Now they are sitting here whining to our Senators about the lack of services and healthcare on the Res, but they continue to threaten us and commit violent acts during the protests when we try to protect them. Someone...

Damn good movies you've seen recently

If you haven't seen it yet, "The Preacher" is worth the time to sit and watch. I thought it was pretty damn good.

243 winchester with 85 TSX for elk?

7mm-08 in a youth model would be my go-to in this case. That's what put my mom's cow elk down two years ago, and I loaded up 140 grain accubonds for that. My sister and wife have used the same gun since then for deer and loved the low recoil and knockdown power.

    Framing in the Bismarck/Mandan Area

It's new construction. Framing, windows, and siding for sure. I can't recall what his usual framer all does.

    Framing in the Bismarck/Mandan Area

Anyone know any framers in the Bismarck/Mandan area that you would recommend. My builder's usual framer is a few weeks out (at least), so we may have to look at other options.

    Google Earth in the field

jdinny is correct. I only have the MT chip. The regional chips are hit and miss, with some sections having ownership information and some not.

If you save the maps for your specific area, you can leave the phone on airplane mode so it doesn't eat up the battery.

    tent stove

I picked up a used Cimarron last year, and absolutely love it. I spent some time in a "2" man mountainsmith mountain shelter LT last season in MT and it sucked. The Cimarron has plenty of room for two guys with gear and a stove.

Thanks for this site! Lots of good information. Unfortunately, my garden sucks this year, so I won't be attempting my first batch this year.

    Propane summer fill

Looking for some more pros and cons to buying a tank vs. leasing. I found a used tank that I can buy right now, but I can't decide whether to buy or lease. I can lease a tank from MVP for $1 or $9 a month depending on the program that I choose (platinum or bronze). Both programs include all...

    Vortex binos

I've got a pair of the 8x42 vipers and love them. Only have one season on them so far, but they've held up really well. Glass is good in low light conditions. Not nearly as good as my Swaro ELs, but you'd never know if you didn't compare them side by side. Shop around online and find a good...

Buying A Tiny Piece of Heaven

This is something that I've often considered. Just haven't had the time or the money to make it happen. There are plenty of small towns within minutes of WMAs and PLOTS land. On another note, the forest service still issues recreation use permits that will allow you to build a cabin on their...

3E2 for the whole family. No points, 3 WT bucks and one any buck. 5 points for muzzy and no luck.
