We started doing our own a few years ago. It really saves a lot of money once you have the equipment. But yeah, trimming can get old. We usually stick to back straps, tendies, roasts, and the rest is burger.
Another thing to add that I've seen happen. If it's a free float barrel make sure to not rest the barrel on the rest. Can cause this issue. Probably not the issue but something I could see me not pay attention to.
Anyone used heated shirts at all? Seems like it would make those tree stand sits in freezing temps a LOT easier. Kinda spendy though, anyone have any reviews?
Putting the meat on ice immediately is not the way to go, if possible. The meat will not go through rigor mortis and hence be much tougher when you do consume it!
