Have you been out ice fishing yet?

First trip out was Saturday on Audubon - Turtle Lake ramp area. Ice was 6-8 inches everywhere I drilled. Fished from 3 to 530 in the afternoon...very slow/one bite. Gonna try the Lane ramp area Thursday afternoon. There were several wheelers running around Saturday...which kinda surprised me!

    Veterans Day

God bless every man and woman who has ever served this great nation going all the way back to the American Revolution. Our nation has survived and thrived on the backs of hardworking Americans and those who were willing to die to protect our way of life. God bless all veterans and God bless the USA!

Ice Fishing in 49 days. I'm calling it!

I suspect there will be walkable ice on the smaller lakes by next weekend. Daytime highs in the 20s...overnight lows in the single digits and calm winds gonna make ice.

    New Flip Over

Wish I was a "young buck" Rowdie...sadly I'm just a couple years shy of 60. Not in bad shape for an old fart, but yes, pulling the flip over out in heavy snow any distance beyond 100 yards can really suck! It's why I fish Audubon a lot during ice season - short walks!

    New Flip Over

    New Flip Over

I've decided I'm going to sell my 5 year old Shappell 1 man flip over and buy either the Clam Nanook XL Thermal or the Eskimo Sierra Thermal. If any of my NDA brothers have any insight or feedback on either of these flipovers, it would be greatly appreciated!

    Looking for mid-size pickup

Allen's response above reminded me I did have a 2011 Tacoma for 3 years. It did well in the snow and off-road situations, but the ride was very loud/stiff...not a "comfy" truck to drive as daily commuter. Decided to step up to the half ton in 2014 when I bought the first boat, so cannot speak to...

    Looking for mid-size pickup

Depends on what you will use the truck for aside from just driving. I have a 2021 F150 with the 5.0, wife has a 2019 Honda Ridgeline. The Honda rides like a cushy SUV on the highway because of the independent suspension, can pull 5K pounds, but doesn't do well off road or handling heavy snow...

Why do you reel left and right handed?

All my crank reels have handle on left side. Right handed dominant - can't imagine controlling larger fish with left hand while reeling with right...but that's just me!

    Top of the Morning!

Morning gents - 3rd cup of coffee down the hatch. Love my Friday's off - got some errands to run this morning, then gonna take the boat down to Audubon later this afternoon after the wind sits down a bit...fall bite should be heating up. Hope everyone has a fantastic fall weekend...get outside...

The Progression of a Walleye Fisherman

My fishing "career" began in PA as a kid fishing in small creeks/streams for rainbow trout - plain hook/split shot and corn or salmon eggs. Moved to ND in 1992 and discovered jig fishing for walleye. My first couple years walleye fishing I only used jigs with minnows/crawlers/leeches/plastics...

    What's in your cup?

Good luck V - I used to drink 2 Mountain Dews every morning when I got to the office. About 15 years ago traded the Dew for coffee. Still have a Dew once in a great while, but coffee is my morning go to!
