    Very cool. My only thoughts on the matter reach in quite a different direction though. Which of the sources of extirpation caused the greatest decline of Lake Michigan lake trout - overharvest or sea lamprey? If the sea lamprey are still present in the lake, I don't feel that a reintroduction...

    Because if the fish are feeding fairly vigorously the attention to detail is much more limited. I've personally seen it done and done it to a limited extent myself, and it works. Takes some attention to conditional detail from an anglers perspective.

    I think the big thing for my home area, ~25" of snow, is that we don't get a thaw then freeze. The snow may be heavy, but if it moves the critters will find food where it's available to them. We get a thaw and the snow crusts over, we're gonna find trouble.
