    Improving the PLOTS program

Incorrect. In order to fund plots it has to pass legislation. If something like this was to happen, as part of the legislation to pass this bill they would have to take the original dollars off the program for it to be fair. It's a hell of a lot better option that federally purchased land that...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I'm hoping it's a positive but yeah, hard to say. It's gotta help move fish in....whether it gets real muddy or if that will even effect fishing is hard to say. I've never been up there on a year when the water comes up early.

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I do find myself wondering what the early crest on the Red will do for both the ice near the mouth as well as triggering a push up river for the fish...? It could be a really good thing for fishing but won't do much good if we can't fish near the mouth maybe... I guess there may be effects...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

One thing to consider is, we had good luck last year starting at dawn in shallow water near the mouth. As the morning went on we just gradually worked our way out to 17+ foot. Honestly our biggest fish came shallow first light and last, but two years ago we did really good mid day out deeper...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I was just going to say, that tells me forage numbers are way down because that's one thing that was always so impressive up there was pounds per inch versus most lakes.

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

Yeah, on average a 28" fish up there usually pegs in around 10#. Forecast is looking good for those of us going late.

    Is ice season done?

Ice will be good for another month where I fish. Maybe longer.

    Honda side-by-side with tracks?

First thing is don't go with mattracks. I've ridden many hours next to those. They're probably the most durable but they get stuck way easier than camoplast. Camoplasts last well and are very easy to work on if needed. I've don't very little to any I've had but there's not much to them for...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I have no first hand info, but based on pics I've saw taken, I would be prepared to use tires with chains. Seeing lots of reports of a large ridge blocking portions of the west shore but sounds like you can still access the mouth via Warner if you're coming on from the west side.

Wheeled House owners- I have a question

Wild Bills is closing already? I take it the Indian store won't open then either? That guy had no clue how to run a sales company or treat his employees for that matter. I hope he goes flat broke.

Wheeled House owners- I have a question

Even the heavier ones pull pretty nice as long as their v front. I have never been around one though that doesn't wear tires toward the inside at an accelerated rate. If I had to guess, you'll be replacing tires every 5kish miles. The good news is, tires are pretty cheap for them.

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

You can only take a daily limit across the border, can't be eating that many. Plus have you ever looked at how small of a portion of the lake is actually fished in the south basin? And how much bigger the north basin is? I mean the utilization percentage on Sak from fisherman is around 20%, I...

    Mono or Fireline for Trolling???

For trolling specifically I use 10/2 power pro for any live bait rigs and use mono behind the bb or whatever. For cranks, I use mono 12# leader when trolling lead since the lead gets you to the bottom, so I like a little bouyancy between that and the crank. For non lead cranking, I use 14...

    FL18 vs FL28

The different color pallettes are nice. Seriously though I like everything about them other than the pro ducer and that they get glitchy once in a while and need a restart. Other than that, they are great. They definitely take the abuse as well as any of the other models. The target separation...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I agree to a point. I did the quick research and the Manitoba quota is roughly 30 million pounds a year. They claim 70% of that quota comes from lake Winnipeg. So that means 21 million pounds of fish come out of lake Winnipeg a year. Figuring at 4 pounds of meat per fish (which is just a...

    Lake Winnipeg Update 2017

I agree, but it's still one of the best places to have a shot at getting something 32" or bigger.
