    North Dakota has worst drivers

My favorite has to be making a right hand turn while another driver in the opposing left turn lane decides they want to go at the same time and force my vehicle into the curb. Take a look at the other driver glaring at me like how dare you get in my way BTW this is at a signalized intersection...

Just because you can doesn't mean you should..

In the Spring the majority of walleye in Lake Erie and some from Lake Huron are on the reef comlexes of western Lake Erie and the Maumee River. If you think this is ridiculous look at the average winning weight for the Walleye tourneys there in the spring. As Wags mentioned these walleye go...

Question for you guys that own meat grinders

As LBrant said light coat of food grade oil, this is a mineral oil not vegetable oil. You cam place in ziploc or wrap in paper. This same oil is great for using on your whet stones for sharpening knves. It keeps the metal shaving from clogging the stones pores.

    Sunday Blue Law

I try to stay away from discussions about which reigion is right. You do realize stores are already open on the Christian day of Sabbath. Saturday is the original day of the Christian Sabbath.

    Lund Compartment Latches

No sales pitch here. I have had good luck finding marine hardware on sites like west marine or defender. Just got parts last summer for my 2004 Mercury. Could not find them with the manufacturer.

    shocking new zebra mussel study

Eyexer is correct. Over ten years ago they developed a toxin lethal only to the zebra/quagga mussels. It is used primarily to clean public and industrial water intakes as these are confined areas where concentrations can be made high enough to be effective. Open water systems would be cost...

    remember when...

Riding my banana bike everywhere. Not unusual to go 50 miles a day. Right up to the point the frame broke while riding down a hill. Now that was real excitement.

    Trapping Minnows

We used very small hooks with a iece of yarn. Ok go ahead and laugh....... They have teeth like a walleye and the yarn gets tangled up in their mouths. Probably caught 12 to 1 versus wax worms. Yes the worms work bu have a tendency to get torn off. Nothing like breaded smelt and a frosty beer.

    Greedy Thursday/ Thanksging

Kentucky Windage, been there done that did not want the Tee shirt. While in school had to work retail. Business was only closed one day a year. Even though the economy has the lowest unemployment in decades there is also lot of underemployment. Having to work two jobs just to make ends meet...

    Fun Experiments?

Experiments that teach the concepts are usually lots of fun. Three states of matter, solid, liquid and One I did (unintentially) was the fourth state of matter, plasma. Wax is good for this, candle, liquid wax, vapor. This can also be turned into a plasma in a microwave. Candle in pan of water...

    Hurricane Michael

Buildings that survived are probably newer construction (post Andrew). Florida changed building codes based on damage observations in Homestead. They have been changing the codes after seeing how previous changes have held up to real world conditions. That part of Florida is pretty flat so storm...

    Night Time Cranking

Was out last night north side of Mallard, trolled until 10:30. One fish at 6:30 then nuthin. Tossed everything but the kitchen sink at them. I marked large schools of baitfish, and lots of nice hooks suspended in 30-45 feet. Surprisingly the fish I caught had an empty belly. Even with the wind...

    Night Time Cranking

I have done a fair amount of trolling after dark on Lake Erie. Personal best came hours after dark in early June. Late fall in shallow (5-12 feet) is a blast. I was planning on giving it a try on Sak this Friday, so I will post a report afterwards. Martinslanding has a valid point, the bugs...

I was at Audubon last weekend and they were pumping water over there. Maybe someone that goes to Totten Trails can report if they are still pumping. Have a safe weekend all.

    Sailing

Best way to learn is crew with someone who knows what they are doing. I raced for 25 years on Lake Erie. I was fortunate to have two exceptional skippers to learn from. One thing I learned is the crap can hit the fan without warning. If that happens you may not be able to do anything to save...

    Cutting holes in plaster....

If this is tradtional wood and lath plaster, make sure to provide backing for the cut lath. Nothing worse than than having everything installed and cracks develop or chunks fall out because the lath lets go.
