Bison players kicked off football team

This is way to simple of a look, but most K-12 districts' costs come out to about 10 grand per kid. That's with class sizes around 20-25 and the kids being there all day and what I would consider more programs (special ed, etc). College tuition is about the same but you're in class 3-4 hours...

    Prediction - First Ice

Coming back to Bismarck this weekend, south Hobart and Cleveland slough had a lot more open water than they did on Wednesday. I'd bet they're half open by now. I'd love to get out but I think I'll wait for a cold snap.

    Prediction - First Ice

I'd be pretty careful in the I-94 corridor and south. Drove from Bismarck to Fargo yesterday; still several acres of open water on Cleveland slough and south Hobart. Next couple days are going to do some damage.

I think the tag issue is legitimate - I know growing up it wouldn't have been very feasible for my dad to take me 3-4 hours to hunt an unfamiliar area just so we could have a doe tag. I think the bigger issues are access and how busy young people are. Even most sports' participation rates...

Who makes good brats in Bismarck area?

I pretty much love any brat, but butcher block is always good. That new place on main (3BE i think) has a good selection of specialty brats as well

Is everyone ready for the blizzard?

How much did everyone get? I'd say there's about 2" on my roof in Bismarck, concrete has a little less.

    Snows

Very true, I call them the Lottery bird...you're going to lose a lot but when you win it's big. Seems you pretty much just have to be in an area they're using and hope they fly by.

    Snows

Tough being at work during these times...heard quite a few flocks of snows go over when I was walking the dog this morning about 6 in Bismarck.

I'm pretty sure that program is run through the USDA

    Snows

Based on prior trips to Saskatchewan and the weather we have(n't) had, I would bet that the bulk of the snows are in between Saskatoon and Regina at this point. Looks like they won't be any colder than ND the next few days but some highs forecasted at or below freezing next week for them so...

    Deer tag system changes

Some of the SW units have more antlered whitetail tags than applicants: https://gf.nd.gov/licensing/availability/deer/stats

    Snows

That's surprising with the warmth we've had. Although the definition of "huntable" numbers of snows varies quite a bit from person to person.

    Pheasant opener 2017

Hunting is far down the list when it comes to threats to pheasant numbers. Habitat and weather are about 95% of the equation. Plenty of areas that 10 years ago were plumb full of pheasants that now have next to none - it ain't because they were all shot. - - - Updated - - - Found this while...

    Pheasant opener 2017

Bird numbers were better than I expected. Not a ton but enough to keep it interesting; never gets old watching the dog work.

Roost Buster - The Non Resident Way

Agree that it's part of the game as long as it's done ethically. Several years ago about a 100 acre roost was holding tons of mallards in an area I hunted; a guy went out there in a duck boat & motor and chased them around and wrecked it - not so cool. I'm not big on pushing sloughs for deer...

Did all the ducks in MN leave???

Had some incredible mallard shoots on public land in NW MN in the late 90s/early 2000s when I was a teen. Can't imagine how good central ND must have been during that time. MN still shoots a pretty good number of ducks (I think they still have the highest number of duck hunters) but the...

Ah yes, the good ol' boat parade.

    2017 mn twins...

Very difficult to acquire starting pitching any way other than drafting or trading for prospects unless you pay ridiculously - and even that hasn't been all that successful (Nolasco, Hughes had one good year). Hopefully they can get lucky with another Santana type. Kinda fun to be relevant at...

    Hail the bison

I know it's a worn out discussion, and I've been on the side of NDSU staying FCS but this is getting crazy. They're kind of in a tough spot in that they're too good for FCS but making the jump to being legitimate FBS is so monstrous... Full disclaimer - I'm a UND guy (and we'll be lucky to go...
