    Vertical jigging - rods are way more important. Raps and bottom bouncers, reels that don't strip gears on a snag.

    My brother has one big maple tree that has released 300 gallons of sap. He cooks up a bunch and also deals with the Amish. He gets the sap and the Amish cook it up. This year 30 to 1 ratio which is exceptional. I managed to get about a half gallon of syrup . He has several areas to collect...

    Garden!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have grown brussel sprouts a few times. Kinda waste of time. If the weather is hot they taste bitter. One very dry year I left them in the garden until I got sick of looking at them....About December 10th. They were still green, growing. Everything else was brown or gray.

    I was 14 in 66. So I did a lot of shoveling. We actually enjoyed the storm, no school. But no doubt the rural people really got slammed. 66 was the year with no deer or deer season. Pheasants were pretty much nonexistent after the storm.

    Pork Butts

    Cloverdale apparently does not carry pork trim anymore. At least that is what they told us about a month ago. Sams was way cheaper than Cloverdale for the pork butts. Deboning them is easy and very little of it.
