    November something a long time ago my uncle put in his boat at New Town. He had to break ice to get out to the open water with his small aluminum fishing boat. That was the day he caught the 14 pound 6 ouncer that was at that time the largest walleye actually caught in North Dakota.

    Easy answer is to wait till it warms up. Hazelton is always bad due to the fact that the concrete is fairly smooth and it is out of the sun right away in the morning. The icy ramp bit me and and my fishing partner so we just wait till it warms up.

    If you are planning on planting garlic, the time to plant is very soon. The forecast is getting colder every day. Cover the dirt with straw and wire to keep it from blowing away. Next spring it will pop up through the straw without weeds. I have had 100% success growing garlic in the fall.

    Curing Winter Sweet and Sunshine Kabocha squash. These are notably sweeter than buttercup. They keep very well.

    Suggestion for carrots. Leave them in late as possible. They just get sweeter. I have pulled them in December more than once.
