    Early Ice~

I have a bad feeling there are going to be some vehicles through the ice over the next couple weeks. It seems like a lot of lakes have open water all the way to about 10" in central part of the state. In a couple weeks ice is going to be 5"-15" and people won't know what was just open water a...

    Valley City Ice Report

This is a weird year where the stuff that froze over beginning of Nov and stayed froze can be 10". But the stuff that opened back up after that initial freeze might still be open water on the same lake.

    Property Tax Increase

No, but they assume that someone who can afford more house can afford to pay more taxes. The thing is we have a choice on what we buy. Here in Bismarck basically everybody could buy a house for under 300k to fit their needs and as a result pay under 3k in property taxes, but it is amazing how...

    Property Tax Increase

I was just looking at my past tax statements since I built my current house. In 2010 with my house valued at 182k my taxes were $2,617. In 2013 they were the lowest, house valued at 217k taxes were $2,244. This year house valued at 271k taxes $2,833. So in 8 years my taxes went up only $215 even...

    Property Tax Increase

My taxes actually went down about $75, but because of the end of the 12% buy down, I’ll be paying about $275 more than last year. Schools are 44% of my bill. Suprisingly they didn’t increase my house value one penny. This is in Bismarck.

absolute minimum money to get you through a month

As a bachelor I could probably get by on very little, but what fun would that be. My only real bills are a 15 year mortgage and the taxes, insurance, utilities, cable that go along with it. Although i live pretty frugally, I am a sucker for a good deal and sometimes wonder if i really need to be...

K Drill and a Milwaukee savings.

On black Friday-cyber Monday Acme tools had 20% off any one item on website. Could have had 8" for $200 + free shipping, i almost pulled the trigger but don't really need another auger. I saw them at the end of last season a few places for $200 as well.

    The Official Wentz Wagon Thread

Its been confirmed that he did tear his ACL, He's officially done for the year. As someone who isn't a die hard fan of any team i can say i was really enjoying watching him and hoping they could make a Superbowl run. Now I officially don't care anymore, free's up my Sundays for ice fishing i guess.

    Radon gas

I should really test my home in NW Bismarck, but since nobody sleeps in the basement i haven't been to proactive. When i bought my first house in central Bismarck in 2006, the sellers had to install a mitigation system before sale. I can't remember what it tested, but i don't think it was...

    new tires

Keep the Wildpeak reviews coming, they are at the top of my list when i replace my tires. I'm trying to get the shitty SRA's through one more winter to get at least 40k on them by next fall when i want to replace. Currently sitting at 26k and these things wont dig you out of wet grass.

    Bitcoin

My biggest question is say you are currently sitting on $1,000,000 worth of bitcoin, how fast can that be converted to USD and be in your normal bank account. Ive heard that 10k a day is the max but I'm not sure. Just curious how liquid it is.

Deer have direct role in death of Minnesota moose

No wonder the prairie moose are on fire. We have no snails, slugs, wolves, or deer to harm them.
