Technically it's still winter. I like it. 1966. Blizzard of the century. It was an El Niño year.

    Spring Lawn Care

The big problem with fall germination is that it needs watering. Small yards are ok but when you are starting 3/4's of an acre water is expensive. I know someone that spent $2000.00 plus to start his less than acre yard. My neighbors and I were flooded out in 2011. I spent zero to grow grass...

    Spring Lawn Care

Milestone kills thistle and not the grass. Thus it really helps if you have major thistle growth. I too like fall seeding. Hit the area with roundup in the middle of September. When the weeds are dead till if you need to. Then drag it to level it off. Depending on the soil that may be good...

    No licenses for non landowners

Fishing is normally really good about deer hunting season. And if it makes anyone feel better, a friend and I have decided to hang up shooting muleys even though there are a great plenty where I hunt. We are going after the elusive whitetail and let others go after the muleys. Possibly...

    Boat floor restoration

Use stainless steel screws. A sawsall is a necessity as its fairly likely that the old screws are not going to come out easily. I've done it before, get ready to cuss.

Have to say goodbye to TD tonight.

I've had several Brit's over the years. So I have toughed out losing my buddies. It's never easy. But the good time memories will always make your day just a little bit better.

    Superbowl Sunday was the answer

This weeks weather isn't going to melt much around Bismarck. But next week may be another story. Last March it was 72 degrees on the 14th and 73 on the 15th.

    World Record Alligator Gar

During the 2011 flood my yard was full of baby gars that got stuck in puddles as the water receded. Probably way more gar in the river than a person thinks.

    Steak Quesadillas

Orange peppers rock. One of the hardest things to grow in ND. But I plant at least six every year. Never get many or give them away. They are my reward for all the hard work.

Pretty sure I was fishing the river last March. The new spring forecast looks nice but this is North Dakota. Maybe it will be "nicer".
