3 friends slain while preparing to fish at Florida lake

Knock on wood - happens to me all the time. I fish alone often, from shore. The funny thing is, I often am fishing, and someone will call my name out of the darkness. People come and go at all hours where I fish, and the regulars sort of know each other - by vehicle if nothing else. One...

I'm getting paid to watch this......

Huffranger works in Prudhoe bay, and they have to be aware of bear presence. He's told me stories of polar bears being seen, and they have to helicopter (the guys, not the bears) into the areas they're working, so as not to disturb the bears.

What kind of boat is dat

Judging by the steering wheel, I'd guess a Nitro Z series bass boat.

    Fly fishing tailrace

I would think the west side would be easier to fly fish. I would think there'd be less chance of having to try to cast into the wind. The mosquitoes were truly something. Lots of them, and they were big. I saw one screwing a chicken.

    Fly fishing tailrace

I spent the last couple of days at the downstream campground, with a "new to us" camper. Didn't fish, but watched a guy giving it a whirl, on some points on the east side, below the ramp, down by the campground. One of those rare no-wind days. Looked like fun. I didn't see him catch...

    Down Goes DAPL

You're exactly right PG. Further, people seem to forget that old saying "To the victor, go the spoils". You conquer a land, one way or another, and you are in charge. Reparations? Ha! Join the Europeans (good point above, none of the "first people" are left anymore anyhow, on EITHER side of...

    Now that's a catfish!

Holy Moly. I suppose, there are paddlefish here in that same range. Anyhow, holy moly

    2021 Ford Bronco

Micro machines were what the younger kids were playing with. I had Super Kings, by Matchbox. They were made in England I think. Very cool. Mostly construction/earthmoving equipment, and tractor trailer rigs.

Hey Tom, Hows the weather ?

It IS a dry spring. Almost hard to believe it's not even July yet. The heat kills me, and we still have all of July and August, before we can expect cooler temps. I'm almost ready for fall.

You don't need a 5th wheel or gooseneck hitch just look at this idiot

And here I wasted some money on a fifth wheel hitch..

    5th Wheel Hitch

I did buy one last night. Turnover ball goes in next Wednesday. Bought a used Andersen hitch today. Should be ready to go pretend to be homeless, by next weekend.

    Plans for this weekend?

Dude, yes, you win. I'd forgo the tent for extra room, and maybe an above-average size bottle of Deet. Regarding the pounders, the secret is to drink about a dozen of them real quick before you take off. Then you don't have to carry them! You. Are. Welcome. - - - Updated - - - Hokay!! I...

    Pike at van hook...

I know this is completely untrue. But.. holy crap. My dad used to tell me stories about Sakakawea. About the divers that had to go down an recover a crashed airplane, and when they came back up, they left, saying they'd never dive that lake again. about how, in the dark, something swam by...

    5th Wheel Hitch

Safety chains seem redundant and an overkill idea. Kidding. At work we have a 20 ft flatbed bumper hitch trailer, and a few years ago the tongue came off the ball on the way to SD. Safety chains saved the day. I hadn't given them much thought until then. It was a double-wiper morning...

    5th Wheel Hitch

Says the guy with a motorhome for sale... No, I am kidding. I think it'd be much fun to have a motorhome. My boss has a big Class A, and I've driven it a few times. It's really something. But, then you gotta pull a car or something like that, and motorhomes are inherently more expensive.

    5th Wheel Hitch

Recently sold my small pop-up camper, and am looking to purchase a used 5th Wheel unit. My pickup does not have a 5th Wheel hitch, and am wondering people's thoughts regarding the various units, and their use. My current pickup does have a trailer brake controller. It's a full-size half ton...
