Can you shoot the coyote? Good riddance.

    Property Tax Increase

So you have admitted that you should be arguing with the county and not the legislature since they are the ones who receive propter tax. You have also indicated that property tax should be replaced with some other tax yet you offer no suggestion as to which tax should be increased that would be...

    Property Tax Increase

Why does everyone keep insisting that property tax needs to be fixed by the legislature? Currently they don't get one dime from property tax. It doesn't even go into the state treasury as it's paid to county treasurers. The county then divides the property tax money to cities, schools, parks...

    Property Tax Increase

Yes, it's local until the legislature sticks their nose in and tells local entities that "in order to get this you must do this." Most common carrots are dangled in front of schools with really no choice. If you ever attend a budget or equalization meeting pay particular attention to how many...

    Property Tax Increase

I love this time of the year. Tax statements come out and everyone gets pissed. Questions #1: Why is everyone blaming the state legislators? They don't set the property tax, they don't set valuations, and they don't collect property tax. In fact other than the Century Code allowing cities...

absolute minimum money to get you through a month

Had a friend who used to do a lot of credit checks. Told me that when there was a high income individual who didn't qualify for a loan due to the credit check the most common reason was alimony. Lots of income generally meant lots of alimony.

absolute minimum money to get you through a month

I'm sure I'm like some of you, I could get by on less but have no desire to change the standard of living to which I have become accustomed. I do know it's much easier when you get some things paid off. That and I try not to waste what I spend. The problem is defining waste.

    Hunter Ed Classes

Sorry about that, don't know what happened. I get notifications from the G&F website on a regular basis. Notes about classes, news, webinars, etc. Hope it works for you after whatever change you made.

You get to pay sales tax in ND for cabelas purchases.....

I'm pretty sure there is no sales tax on vehicles in ND. There is an excise tax which is different than a sales tax.

    Prime rib ?

Everybody has their favorite way to cook a prime rib. There is the high heat, lower time group and the lower heat, longer time group. I have done it both ways. Did the high heat, shorter time for many years and last year decided to try the low heat, long time camp. For me I won't go back to the...

Maybe not until you find the PO who's having a bad day and says that if it's covered it's concealed.

Do you prefer to hunt alone?

Sitting in a stand alone is one thing and I prefer that. But Ido like to have someone to visit with on the way to and from the stand. So I guess there are times I like to hunt alone, but not be alone. What's important though is who I hunt with. It's mostly family or very close friends and as...

    Vehicle rifle mount

Mine usually lays in the back seat of the crew cab in it's case. That's one of the reasons I have a CW permit.

    Hunter Ed Classes

For those of you who have children who need Hunter's Ed classes, or need them yourself, now is the time of year where classes are mostly taught. Keep an eye on the G & F website for classes in your area. Pre-registration is usually needed or at least recommended to insure you or your child can...

What gun safe should I buy?

Does anyone keep their safe in an unheated garage with a heater/dehumidifier inside the safe? Saw a heater/dehumidifier advertised for a gun safe but am leary about my guns sweating and getting moisture on them leading to rust.

    Stuffer and grinder

Have also found that smoking takes the most time as well as the most beer. Nothing better than the smell of smoking sausage after a day of grinding and stuffing with a cold beer in hand and a cooler to work through, while sharing lies about the hunts that took place during the fall. That is the...

    Stuffer and grinder

While you're working on your wish list I would suggest wishing for the 25# stuffer. Have found that stuffing creates the backlog of making sausage. The less time you spend filling the stuffer the better.

    Observations

It never bothers me to borrow money for some things. Boat payments aren't fun in the winter but sometimes it makes sense. The last vehicle I bought the interest was 2.5%. Could have taken money out of some investments but all those have consistently been earning >5% growth the past few years...

    Stuffer and grinder

I have a 1 1/2hp grinder from Cabelas, pretty sure it's made by LEM. Also use a 25# stuffer. Impossible to push too much meat through the grinder. For that reason it's not very good to stuff as you can't keep it full. Not many need a grinder that large, 1 hp would be plenty big I think as some...

So we found a honey hole....now what?

I don't think you can shoot too many roosters. There will always be enough around to breed in the spring. You can over-hunt an area and chase the game to another location. Don't know the answer to how much is to much but I would think about once a week or a little less would be ok, what you...
