    Get a PLOTs guide and take the kids to an area with a fair amount of possibles, get there early and go from there; chances are they are happy to go with and care less on where. For what it is worth, I clicked thinking waterfowl.

    Agreed! So what do "city" pigeons eat? Poop? Good many of them hang around the local elevator. Sounds better than catching and eating fish downstream from the local poop plant discharge.

    Lost Wedding Ring

    Lost my first one when I was tossing straw bales out of a mow, twine caught it and it slipped off. Heard it hit the edge of the mow and it landed in 5 feet of loose straw. Never did find it.

    Migration

    Been hunting in Divide County, got my first ever wigeon Sunday and more this morning. Plenty of gads and a few mallards, hearing and seeing more canadas, but not in great numbers. Headed back out in am, hunting potholes, lack gear for fields this year. Kinda nice actually, couple 3 dekes...

    First couple batches in a cast iron skillet until my stainless whirly pop arrived. Put a fryer therm through the lid to give me an aprox temp.

    Cayenne is pretty hot, way more than a jalapeno. Jalapenos do turn red when ripe. Jalaproctitis.... A real butt burner

    Almost kinda! Cayenne is a type of chili, allowed to ripen to red and then dried and ground into cayenne powder. The jalapenos we used were still green when we dried and then turned 'em to powder.

    Perfect! So we got casinos, marijuana resorts, loan sharking, shooting stuff at night as some of the main draws for being on a reservation. They may hate the Italian who "discovered" the new world but they sure run 'em like a good Italian family, just a little less motivation.

    My buddy always dehydrated jalapenos he grew then we ran 'em through a coffee grinder to powder. Used that instead of fresh minced and got good flavor and heat without any of the odd chunks that don't soften up or extra water cooking out and causing texture issues.     Right on cure; I usually use instacure because all of the commercial seasonings are to salty for our tastes. I don't like how the hi temp stuff affects the meat either.

    Worst shooting day ever....

    Up by Tobacco Garden? Wife was working at the restaurant and said their had been a fire in a trailer, 2 living there, one asleep at time and smoke alarm had woke him up in time. Either way, glad you got out and sorry you have to deal with it.
