    Sorry, I should have typed 1896. Dad and John were born in 1947 and it was his Grandpa's gun. He used it when they hunted pheasant and rabbit when they were in middle school. Dad carried his Grandpa's 12 ga Wingmaster. Not sure how old each gun actually is.

    I agree Davey, most of the time poor service is a direct result of poor training, lack of expectations and no enforcement of consequences of not meeting expectations. You can usually tell the ones that are geniune and the ones that could care less.

    Canned Venison

    Have canned beef, beef stew and chicken soup but no venison yet. I browned the beef chunks quickly in a lightly oiled pan for some color. The recipe BBQBM linked looks good. Assuming I have a succesful fall, I intend to can some too. Sure beats store bought and is handy for a quick meal.

    How fast is your boat?

    Buddy of mine had a 17' express duck boat that had a 90 merc jet. We had it 34 on gps and at that speed, through a riffle in the river, it really gave a high pucker factor.
