    They're nice to use in a permanent house when you can't let the auger do the work for you or you'll soak the inside of your house. When the ice gets 3-4 feet thick, that's a lot of scooping with a big dipper. It will definitely save you a lot of time.

    You can get a LSS-2 compatible thru-hull transducer, but I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

    If anything I would up the standards. Seems easier to catch a hog during ice season (particularly super late ice before the spawn) than during soft-water for me.

    They have to live in their environment, of course, but in a given system the musky will be in warmer water compared to northern if possible.
