    Sioux hockey starts now!!!

Can't believe CC is sucking wind so bad. Aren't they typically a pretty good squad?

    Rifle Season 2015

Because I like to live dangerously. And the local rifle range closed for the season. I suppose I could run out of town and sight in on a 5-gallon jug in the ditch...

    Rifle Season 2015

First time I've headed to the field with a rifle tag and NOT sighted in beforehand. Hopefully the ol' Remington is still zeroed since Rifle Opener 2013! If I remember correctly, it was about a half inch off the left ventricle of the buck that got a free ride home in the bed of my truck.

Feral Pig Sightings Must be Reported

What I find ironically hilarious (and this is somewhat off topic, so bear with me) is that states with robust hog populations charge a TON to hunt them. Actually, the states probably don't get a lot, but the landowners sure do! I looked into it in Texas once during a business trip. Ha! I'd...

    Rifle Season 2015

Bumpedy bump bump! Friday is only a few days away. Hope a big, fat does stops by at approximately 12:05 p.m. so I can call it a season.

Feral Pig Sightings Must be Reported

"Shooting of feral pigs is illegal in North Dakota unless a person is protecting property or livestock." So...the G&F wants all sightings reported. And they make it crystal clear that any feral pigs would spell potential doom. Yet, it's ILLEGAL to shoot one?? How does that make sense?

    Migration

Buddies came up over the weekend. Four guys shot 12 mallards over two days in SE ND. It wasn't form a lack of trying! At least willing ditch parrots helped keep things interesting. For the amount of hunters we saw, and the lack of shooting both days, my bet is our poor luck wasn't the only...

    Lost Wedding Ring

Never lost mine (it fits my finger pretty much perfect) but my great uncle lost his deer hunting a few years ago. He was removing his glove for some reason and it was a cold day. Best he can figure is his fingers shrunk a bit from the temperature and the ring just came off with the glove. Snow...

Winners in the Oilfield: G&F looking for poachers

I dunno, sorting pond scum from fecal matter from the stuff you scrape off a trash lid just leaves you messy in the process, but I'd think the "meat hunters" are pretty low considering they couldn't just stop at one deer, and they only took a fraction of the meat available on the deer they...

Winners in the Oilfield: G&F looking for poachers

Since we're throwing out hypotheticals, my vote is on a tribe of nomadic oilfield workers recently laid off and now fighting for survival on the cold, desolate, Chik-Fil-A free plains of North Dakota.

Winners in the Oilfield: G&F looking for poachers

District Warden Looking to Solve Poaching Incidents North Dakota Game and Fish Department district game warden Keenan Snyder is seeking information on several illegal-taking-of-wildlife incidents over the last month in the Williston and Watford City areas. Anyone with information on the...

    Greatful and Sad

I have one farmer friend that I keep close to the vest as he actually doesn't post his land, so anyone can hunt it. But he does know a lot of people, which has opened doors to other land in the past. Still, I'm finding my hunting habits have shifted immensely since I started waterfowl hunting...

    Gander Mountain in Fargo

To me, Scheels is a necessary evil. They usually have the best variety and stock or products, so get my business. I guess the only place that hasn't been mentioned yet is Fleet Farm. They honestly kind of suck for hunting gear, but have a good selection of ammo at pretty decent prices. In fact...

    Gander Mountain in Fargo

When big Ed was back in the fishing department, GM was worth visiting. He knew more about the ins and outs of the Red River than just about anyone. But when he died and they quit selling bait, there was no reason to go there any more.

    Gander Mountain in Fargo

Scheels is stupid busy all the time. I almost wish GM was at least somewhat competitive so I had another place to buy stuff. But Scheels always outdoes them on price and supply. It's ridiculous.

    Gander Mountain in Fargo

Serious question: I drive by that place pretty frequently and there are never more than a dozen vehicles in the lot. Does anyone actually go to Goose Peak any more??? I've been in there a few times over the years, but never purchase anything unless it's clearanced or on sale since their prices...

    Yup, another newbie...

Cool! They are wrapped in just plastic, but not sure how tightly. I'm sure they're freezer burned. I'll try to get them down your way sometime this fall. Travel that route often on hunting runs. Thanks for the help!

    Yup, another newbie...

Hey, welcome to NDA!! I have two giant pure-strain American black ducks from Prince Edward Island, Canada, as well as a true bull gadwall from South Dakota. Both have been in my freezer for over a year in plastic grocery bags. Dumb, I know. Sure they're all toast, but in your expert opinion...
