    Like everything with fishing there isn't one answer. I've experience both fish not caring about noise as well as fish scattering immediately with footsteps above them. Both scenarios seen on live scope recently. Depends on the day, fish mood, weather, lake clarity, depth, and probably magic.

    Jamestown area pond I tried to hit up on Saturday morning had open water around the shore and was April-looking dark ice.....looked like some open spots in the middle as well. I was just there the Saturday before and it was 10-12" solid clear ice.
