    HB 1175

Having known renters of State land that also put 1-3 bulls into a section so they could post it through deer season, I too would be good with some tightening of the requirements for allowing it to be posted. For now, it seems like some post it just to spite the hunting community and that should...

    Bites of the Past

There have been so many good ones, it's hard to think of those that qualify as being unique enough to write about here. 1. Circa 1986 timeframe, Lake Sak had a fast rise in water levels going through June which flooded a ton of shoreline covered in sweet clover, especially in the Little Knife...

    Sitka gear…..$$$$

Oddly, a light quilted flannel is my go-to for above zero temps if I am planning on being active. Love that quilted flannel so long as it is relatively thin.

p.s. I own neither Sitka or Kuiu gear, so I have no opinion on their products.

    Sitka gear…..$$$$

There is something to be said about this, especially when we are talking about winter wear. I am still using a winter coat and bibs I bought some 10+ yrs ago. I don't even remember the brand name of it, but it was some of the higher priced stuff at Scheels back then (not sure it's still...

This looks like an igneous rock, maybe along the line of some gabbro variant. The quartz was introduced later after the original darker rock cooled, fractured, and got intruded upon by the quartz rich material. Not uncommon in areas where there's been some orogenic activity.

That is an interesting way to look at this. Hmmmm....

    ND Record Burbot

Seriously. Catches of 20-50 burbot a day were not unusual through the ice and very early spring. In 92-94 the ice houses SE of Williston all had a pile of them on the ice going to waste as there really wasn't much in the way of wanton waste enforcement. I haven't fished that area through the...

    ND Record Burbot

Burbot define what it means to be so ugly you're cute. And I too would guess it came from the tailrace. Back in the 80s and 90s they were really common to catch through the ice from at least New Town on up through the Williston area. Not sure how true that is anymore though, and I never...

    Any rock hounds ?

One thing's for sure, rocks are much like clouds in that we can see whatever we really want to see in them.

    Any rock hounds ?

"Molberg’s findings and theories are by no means an open and shut case. One of the problems is the 500 foot differential in elevation between the Glacial Lake Souris level and the level of the spillway into the Sheyenne River. He had an explanation for this too. Based on Charles Hapgood’s theory...

    Idaho murders

You know, it's not really us you have to convince on this, right? You need to be working on your relatives.:oops:

    Any rock hounds ?

I would suggest the rock is in the shape you found it from rolling around under a glacier on its trip south from northern Canada. The reason there's a rim on it is because it's a softer layer of rock in-between harder rock/mineral. Seeing wear to the extent you have on that rock is not...

    Any rock hounds ?

Definitely a rock as I can see at least a couple of different minerals in it. And it sure looks like it's been worked. That might be an interesting one to take to an archeologist, mostly because if I use my imagination, I think I might be looking at a face.

Starting to sound like there's pretty good odds of that.

And just like that...all this was much ado about nothing. Can't say I'm disappointed though.

    Property taxes

That literally makes no sense. To those who inherited land without minerals because gramps sold them, sorry...them's the breaks. Maybe gramps was a better businessman than a farmer when he made the decision to keep the land at the cost of those worthless minerals?

    Property taxes

What the hell? Are you seriously talking about stealing one's property and giving it to someone else? Most of the time in private sales, the land was offered up at $XXX per acre including minerals. OR, you could choose to buy just the surface acres at $XXX - $XX. Most of the people buying...

    More Snow Next Week?

As someone once mentioned to me "even a blind pig finds an acorn once in a while". But no, not really. The GFS is one of the top two global models out there. It has times where it performs very well.
