    I have the same 17 prop on my etec -- but i went from bottom to top with the motor - -no matter what bracket -- anybody riding in my boat (especially my dog) (anything loose in the boat) will not like when i open it up. It will crack your neck.

    If you have a big engine --- you should have a transom savor if your going to pull it miles and miles. I have a bracket built in on mine and dont use one.
