An update on this race...it seems some jerk snow- machiner (what they call them up there..snowmobiler,snocat er. whatever term u want to use...prelimnary reports are the some guy was drunk..on a snow machine..i will reserve judgement until all the facts are in on him..but..it sounds like this...
I think I will take the recommendation and check it out! Thanks!
Another book I would recommend is called "Born to Mush" . Dallas Seavey wrote it. Awesome read!!!Thumbs Up
wow..spring is there already! The better half and I were fishing Devils on sunday and had 12-14 inches of ice. Probably won't last long though with the forecast.
For sure! 8-10 days straight with little to no sleep. One mandatory 24 hr rest at one of the checkpoints and I think 1 or maybe 2 mandatory 8 hour rests..other than that..i think a lot of the teams have done the 4 hours running, 4 hours resting game plan....but...some deviate to their own game...
Awesome to be sure! It looks like some of the faster mushers keep a few of their dogs RIDING on the sled to keep the other dogs from running too fast a pace, in an attempt to keep them fresh for the long haul. It is interesting reading about/ listening to mushers insights of when and where and...
If you are bored the next week check out www.iditarod.com and follow this spectacular sled dog race. It started on sunday and winning musher/dog team will probably arrive in Nome next Tuesday/Wednesday. It is kinda addicting keeping track of the lead changes/ strategy and the how the dogs and...
ice free?totally?
Lake Region Search and Rescue has one of their main fundraisers regarding this each year( those of you that fish the lake should at least partake). They put a junked out car on the ice.out near east bay boat ramp..and have a contest..guessing what day, hour, minute and second...
I get a kick out of you guys who..when a guy states his price point, recommend choices completely over that. Reminds me of used car salesman who..when told a price point of $30,000, starts showing vehicles in the $50,000 range.
Carry on
This is my 2nd Springer. My 10 yr old went blind over the summer so I retired him from hunting...he didn't like that..he is now a full time house dog. But yeah they have energy and yes you should know that going in.
That being said...its a personal choice.
Ford vs Chevy, Aluminum vs Glass...

We bought one from whispering winds kennel out of Bagley,Mn. Limited Registration. We got a liver and white female. I think they sell tri colors more often. Ours is a little over a year old now.We picked her up about a year ago now. She is doing well thus far. I think it was like...
Very true Guy! Even October blizzards! I can recall about 10 yrs ago, headed out to Dickinson area Rooster opener. That area got massively dumped on with snow a few days prior to opener. There were snapped branches/trees all over town. While we came upon a number of pheasants that were dead in...
As long as we haven't made it thru the entire State Tournament season, I am not believing any of you yahoo's prediction of an early spring.:;:cheers Been many snow storm blizzards over the years in March..so hold your horses fella's . We aren't out of the woods yet.
I am looking to pimp up my 14ft lund aircraft carrier. I am looking at either a 15 or 20 HP Honda.
Any of you have any experiences good or bad with this brand? I guess I am not married to getting a Honda but like their generators and the CRV automobile so assume the outboards are quality stuff...
For my permanent, I bought one of those small cheapie(around $20 bucks) ceiling fans and alligator clipped to one of my extra 12v vex batteries. Lasts about 6-8 hours. Works fine. I have never used the built in fan on my big buddy. I concur with you..would get spendy replacing D batteries.
Maybe cities, counties, states, whatever, use some type of reinsurance to help pay for any premiums/claims with higher risk occupations. Sad deal all the way around though.
