Good ol' fishing stories (Please share your)

I'm not a god fearing man, but a grandfather-fearing man I am! It's too hard to believe otherwise - grandpa definitely had a Karmic joke when that happened! Awesome story, thanks for sharing! - - - Updated - - - I fished with my uncle on Lake Lida when I was 10, only saw him once a year and...

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

Still drying - it will take it awhile. The thing is super water logged. Appears to be going well though, no further cracks or weak spots.

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

I took Anthro 101 to clear some generals I needed and stopped going to class because I'd already learned everything they were teaching on Discovery Channel. I got a 98 in the class.

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

I feel dumb - I'm an NDSU student and didn't think of that. I found they had Anthropology, not sure if they deal with animals. Worth a shot. Thinking about calling the Heritage Hjemkomst Center too.....

It's a slow go with communication to the Heritage Center in Bismarck. Anyone have any suggestions in Fargo?

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

This is fantastic. Thank you! I have a few other sources I'm consulting to ensure I've covered all my bases....in the mean time, wet towel to keep it from drying much at all in the basement.

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

That's the definition of balls. You win the "big antler" award. I free dove down 2 feet in the Red once just to see and I shot back into the boat like a little girl when the light disappeared. I'm in the "creepy" camp....

"And the crowd became restless...." Yes, I contacted the archaeologist with pics and measurements. So far all I've gotten back is how to dry and preserve. They must still be in awe over the pics ;) Not sure how long, or what else they need, to identify it. I will keep this going though so...

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

I've found the same info in my research Dean. I see their range, just don't believe that I found the rare shed of the common elk we're used to. Only explanation I have for the mass and potential of this elk is Eastern. I have the wet towel until I can get info from those at the Heritage...

I've thought of that Enslow.....imagination running wild. Most logical explanation is Eastern Elk from 120-150 years ago. My wife is blown away that they regrow that every year.

Spot on. I can tell you, a few Budweiser and this antler next to me......it keeps getting cooler for some reason. I haven't been disappointed looking at it yet! Keep thinking what it would be if whole. Ah, thank you beer. Or should I say thank you River for unveiling your treasure. And...

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

Like I said, I was offered $100 straight away for it less than 2 hours later on the river....at the moment it's worth quite a bit more in hand to look at! - - - Updated - - - I contacted the Heritage Center in Bismarck, not G&F for a reason. Competence comes to mind.....got a response from...

Red River Find of a Livetime - Stag Antler

Wow that looks very cool! The specimen I have is cracked and pretty old - not sure it would work like that. I have it wrapped in a wet towel to try and prevent any cracking from drying. - - - Updated - - -

Probably poached and will be confiscated. Been looking for the rack for years, finally turned up randomly in the river. Likely have it on trail cam in Wahpeton.
