Ice Fishing MYTHS that never die.

While ice does indeed float, there's also what's called ice bridging. Basically, it happens when a reservoir is lowered after ice cover is developed, the ice in the middle of the lake is floating on top of the water, but as you get close to shore, thick ice will sometimes "bridge" from the...

    Does anyone here target carp?

I'm going to hazard a guess it's kinda like Lycanthrope's avatar.

Yeah, as odd as it may seem...lots of ND anglers and outdoorsy types just don't visit nodakangler. I also must commend you on putting forth a solid effort to get someone else's property back to them. THanks!

    Does anyone here target carp?

Audubon has by far the largest average European Carp I know of in the state. - - - Updated - - - Whether one likes them, or not, at least the Buffalo are native to our waters. Unlike carp and smallies.

    Easy winter

and These are the official long-range outlooks issued by the Climate Prediction Center. They have been calling for a cool and wet winter for our area since early last fall, I think it's mostly due to the La Nina pattern in place out in the Pacific. While the early expectation was that Dec...

    Boat towing question

I am pretty sure you can't put an engine and trailer on that boat for 600 lbs. Probably closer to 900 lbs, at least. Then add in another 400 lbs for fuel, batteries, and gear. That being said, if I was only pulling to a local, well maintained ramp, would I consider it. Even then I think...

    Registration Question

It's been 14 yrs since I bought a boat and trailer in Minnetucky, but I never did get any such notice from them. I just removed the MN license plate. Note, the boat has never again been in that communal atmosphere.

    New Here Looking to Learn

Oh, and lest we forget. There are a few tiger muskie and pure muskies in a handful of our lakes as well. Mostly the smaller lakes, but Audubon should be producing some decent sized fish pretty soon. And yes, I do know a few people who chase pike with fly rods. Mostly on our smaller lakes though.

    New Here Looking to Learn

Pike are plentiful here, both Sakakawea and Devils Lake offer great pike fishing, Oahe might be a half step behind them. Since it's our state fish, you can find them in just about every body of water across ND. Good luck and enjoy the chase.

Technology in the outdoors- where is the line?

You know you can just pour some water on the ice, then set your puck on the ice to see what's below you, right? At least, it works with my old FL-8.

I got wood! Need custom stock built

What you are likely to get is a 99% inletted stock from what I recall a few years ago. That percentage suggests it should only take an hour or two to finish sanding/carving out the final product. Not true, I had quite a few hours invested in my 25-06's wood by the time I got it to where I...

    Salmon?

It was caught on a jig and a minnow in about 4 ft of water near Fox Island in Bismarck. Oddly, I don't think I heard of any being caught this past spring, even though I would have thought the remaining Atlantics would have been charging upriver again last March/April. Then again, how many of us...
