    If it's covering everything evenly in your smoker with that crud, it's most likely as KDM noted...a combustion issue. If it's obviously concentrated in one or two areas and looks like it results from a drip, it's as KurtR suggests. Both are yucky.

    I believe it's the threat of brucellosis that keeps this from becoming a commonly accepted means of dealing with bison over populations. You really get under the ranchers' collective skin when suggesting it for a given area.

    I love reading these threads. Mostly because they remind me of how little I know about rifles. In large calibers, all I own are a S&W Model 1500 in 25-06, a Rem 700 in 7 mm Rem Mag, and a Tikka T3 in 243. All perform their assigned missions just fine. I have no idea where I'd find the time...

    Still just curious here, but are you a fan of scopes with parallax adjustments for range? I've never tried one in the field even though I know they make them, for a price.

    Since I know you shoot a lot and keep up on the minutia of marksmanship a heck of a lot better than I do, I am curious as to what is too much parallax for you? I thought most scopes were sub an inch (or so) in parallax up to about 500 yds. Am I wrong, again?

    I probably take about 80% of my fish home to clean anyways, but on those weekend trips to the big lake(s) is where I'd be at risk of running afoul of some rule reader. Not because I actually have more than my limit though. I'm just against issuing tickets and fines to non-poachers.

    I've had my kids' first deer hides tanned and then given to them as their "trophy", they were does. Other than that, I donate them to NDGF.

    I have a couple of Predator water pumps of the 2" variety. They run like a charm. My only beef with them is the gas tanks are too small and I only get about 4-5 hrs of run time per tank of gas.

    It's not like NDGF was going to extend the rifle season to allow the roads and trails to dry out. Don't get me wrong, I try like hell to avoid testing my truck's 4WD, and quite honestly...I use the 4WD a lot just so I don't spin the back tires on greasy surfaces that I could easily (with fun)...
