    Deck Footings.

It's best to have s fee inches above ground just to keep your posts fr rotting over many years. Like the old cliche "do you want a fast job ot do you want a good job. I have seen deck supports go in five yesrd and some that were put in 20 years ago and still very good.

    Deck Footings.

I always put footings below frost line. Sometimes my building is overkill, but thats like guys who think a magnum is to big for deer. Do it right the first time and you never have to redo it. I don't have that much energy. I overbuild maybe, but it's because I'm lazy and don't like doing...

    Zero Turn Mowers

Sorry I didn't answer, but I have been away from home and not back yet. The mower is the 25 hp with oil filter. There is a less expensive 22 hp that is without oil filter. I am not sure of the model. The mower is offset about 8 inches left. They call it easy trim, and it doed aid in cutting...

    Zero Turn Mowers

I mow two acres and have 30 trees and multiple other obstacles. My Sears garden tractor took eight hours. My old 42 inch Dixon took four hours, and was poor on steep ditch sides. My new 54 inch John Deer with hydro steering is good on side hills and if I really push it will do the lawn in 2...

Friends that over borrow their welcome

I have bad luck loaning things out. Loaned a two wheel trailer and came back with bent axle. Loaned it out again and it came back with both tail lights completely broken off. Loaned out a camera lens and the guy dropped it on the sidewalk while he was thanking me. No one offered to fix...

    New family rig for ahab

They had that rig at the Bismarck sport show a couple years ago. I guess if you have the bucks why not. I seen a huge outfit like that on Devils Lake a few yeats ago. While I was taking a beating in my Tyhee he was spanning three or four waves and trucking right alonge. Not my cup of tea...

    10th aniversary

A Seminole (he said anyway) at the native village who was putting on the archery display let me shoot his homemade bow and arrows. Not bad actually. The old Blunderbuss was neat, but the cannon was kind of cheese. Yoby if you like scenery and not to many tourists I can relate. I have been...

Planet of women , men to disappear ?

I guess they will stop working on parthenogenesis now that they can reproduce with the help of a 220 volt 600 rpm dispenser.

    60 trees and bushes later................................

If you have brown leaves at this time of year I would guess you have needle blight. Same as needle cast I think. Look for dark brown spots on the needles. You will need at least 10X to do that. Bravo may save your trees, but wear goggles when applying it because it's a bad eye irritant...

    60 trees and bushes later................................

Vollmer if your planting evergreens it normally takes four years for them to take off. That's because they need to drop enough needles to acidify the soil. You can pay a mint for a nursery to acidify your soil with muriatic acid, or buy expensive muriatic acid, but a chemist told me muriatic...

    60 trees and bushes later................................

KDM I have a Luscious Pear that produces a couple of hundred pounds each year. I am never able to use everything that comes off that tree. I have two other pears also. One year a buck completely girdled them rubbing. I capped the end with wax so they would not dry out. Next spring when they...

    Why Do You Hunt?

Excellent post KDM. Hunting or fishing are mental rehabilitation. Nothing like standing on a mountaintop looking out over God's creation. One often forgets to hunt.

    Why Do You Hunt?

why do you hunt I guess it's so much a part of me that I have given it little thought. Sort of like why do I breath, why does my heart beat etc. I do enjoy it though as you describe NPlabs. The grocery store meat is only slightly above road kill, or maybe not. Dead deer on the side of the...

    night crawlers

I bought apples from a local nursery. I didn't have nightcrawlers until then. I planted two then it got dark. Started the third in the morning and when the dirt broke away it was full of nightcrawlers. Now my yard is full of them. I bought a 70 gallon tank with an axle through the middle...
