Let’s assume for a second that I don’t know much about boats

Yeah, I once had a late 80s Mariner, 75 hp. And I went in there not knowing. Thankfully, I had a magnet that helped me round up those damn loose steel balls. Needless to say, I was woefully unprepared for the initial discovery. - - - Updated - - - Except in vocabulary, I always seem to have...

    Loss of power wiring.

Doesn't need to be 220V to use a transfer switch and power up a couple of ciruits on 120V. The key here is that a good electrician installs the transfer switch, to the switch goes the generator, and from it the selected circuits that your generator is capable of supplying enough juice. What the...

Let’s assume for a second that I don’t know much about boats

Yeah, sorry man. This isn't that expensive of a task for a do-it-yourselfer, but it does take a little time. Be careful when dropping that lower unit. There are like six ball bearings in there that will bounce across your garage floor.

    Loss of power wiring.

I think this is EXACTLY what BobKat was talking about being illegal. Granted, I am no electrician. Bob is right, go the route of a "transfer" switch and use a qualified electrician. If someone powers up the power company's wiring and kills a lineman, it seems right that they go spend some...

Let’s assume for a second that I don’t know much about boats

That is what's called a "weep hole". They are there to let you know when you have a leak. If you are seeing oil come out of it, it is doing it's job. You need to replace the seal at the top of your lower unit. - - - Updated - - - BTW, that prop looks a little rough. You been grinding on...

    There's Never Enough

Hah hah hah, I have a knack for underestimating the time it takes me to do things. Just ask my ex! - - - Updated - - - Speaking of buying my time, it's time to go fishing!

    There's Never Enough

I too spent many years working too many hours even when I really loved what I did for a living. Oddly, I didn't make as much money then, so I worked even more doing those things that I just couldn't justify hiring out. Now I am fortunate enough to be able to buy some of my time back from...

    Liquid rollers?

After having a bunk trailer and a couple of roller trailers, I just cannot fathom why people would prefer a bunk over a properly fitted roller trailer on an aluminum hull. Seriously, my previous Smokercraft and current Lund are so, soo...easy to load and unload with a roller trailer...

Where do you think the line is with electronics?

Yes. I don't know what that line is though, but I did just fine the past 12 years fishing with an old Lowrance LMS 480. I upgraded this spring, but mostly because I wanted color so I could see it in the sunlight.

    Opti Overhaul

I put 150 hours on my pontoon last summer, AFTER I blew the motor (equipped with an hour meter). The Lund gets used more in the spring and fall, but a 6-7 hour day of pulling cranks on the big motor (no kicker) is not unusual. I had to sit down and actually look at a calendar a while back to...

    Opti Overhaul

In talking with guides down in Florida, they were running mostly Yamaha and Suzuki motors. Although, the guys that took us out on the deep water were running Mercs. The 200 hp, 2015 Suzuki had over 1800 hours on it already, and the twin 2015 Merc 150s (all 4-S) had around 1200. They...

    Rain

Ended up with 1.3 inches outside of Lincoln. Then it rained a wee bit after I got in to work, so maybe around 1.35 total.

    Rain

Just now giving us the business out by Lincoln. No complaints from me, yet. Hail would kind of annoy me though.

    Boat question.

Sorry man, you will want this. :( - - - Updated - - - At that volume of water, she has a bad crack somewhere. Head, block, intake, ??? sounds like you are literally pulling in so much water on top of the piston to create that "internal" sound.

    Garrison Dam Flood Tunnel

No, that electricity is largely sold to Minnesota. Ever notice the powerline's path away from the dam?

Bismarck: I look down at the ground when people ask me where I am from

Didn't the Hoge Island residents reject the flood plan for their area? Or am I mis-remembering something?

    Anyone snare rabbits?

Yeah, I think tularemia is more prevalent in the summer months. Or, maybe they just expect the rabbits to die from it during the onset of winter. Anyway, I know a couple guys that hunt rabbits and they pretty much restrict their hunting of them for food during the Dec-Feb timeframe.

    Garrison Dam Flood Tunnel

In going up to a total of 44,000 cfs, the plan is to send most of the water through the powerplant, with some 4-6 thousand being contributed to the overall discharge through the regulation tunnels. I heard, but don't remember the actual split between the two.

    Florida Trip

I don't know Marco Island, or about the March timeframe. But I did go there this last weekend and the fishing was good, damn good. Chased tarpon for a couple of days and ended up catching one at right around 100 lbs according to the guide, and did a day of deep water fishing where we busted...
