Things you never say to your wife

My wife: "Why have you been so damn crabby lately?" Me: "Because, I shot a F'n branch." This took place a couple weeks after I returned from a 2 week elk hunt, in which my arrow deflected off a branch first, before having a pass through on a nice bull. I never recovered him. If only she knew...

    Thermal Scopes

Damn man. I wish!!! So with your experience, is there any reasonable compromises to be made on these things?. IF you were to compromise, where would you do it; processor, mag, objective, other bells and whistles?

    Thermal Scopes

I actually did contact Oneil. He's apparently a dealer also. Waiting to hear what his thoughts are too. Knowing them guys I'm sure they don't run anything i can afford, however.

    Thermal Scopes

Anybody have one? I'm curious what model you have, and how far you can effectively shoot coyotes at night. And your likes/dislikes/do-overs. Thanks

    It is official

I can gain 10 lbs in a good "indulge weekend". Moderation isn't even in my vocabulary. The only way I can see results is to eliminate the alcohol and shit food on the weekends. For my lifestyle, and family and friends, that means becoming a hermit. Or being really pissed off all the time...

    Sausage seasonings

Just had some shroom and swiss brats from Owens last night. They were tasty. There have been a couple things I wouldn't try again, but there are a lot of variables that go into how the end product turns out. I do like the instructions that come with everything, and Marty and Tanya are very...

    spear fishing

What other gear is needed for spear fishing? Are the portable spearing houses any good? I see Clam makes a thermal one now.

    Smoke pole

How about a suppressed muzzleloader that can ship to your door for around $900, without having to pay tax stamp or go through the NFA BS? Where does that fall? https://silencerco.com/maxim50/

    Vortex or Leupold

That's the thing about Leupold. They usually win the weight category. I have a Mk4 and vx3 LR with M1s for that reason. The Mk4 passed a box test perfectly but I haven't tested the vx3 and I need to because I have my doubts that's it's 100% accurate. I would vote neither....leupold or Vortex...

    ND deer opener

I have a muley tag. And food plots for whitetail around home. This weekend I'll be knitting also. I'll get after it when the weather turns and people lose interest...Good luck to all and treat other hunters how you want to be treated. Pretty simple concept.

    Smoking/Grilling Info Sharing

Chicken is much better cooked at 400+ degrees. Only exception would be wings that i want to finish in the fryer after getting some smoke. Brush a good slather of real mayo on your chicken before seasoning and smoking/grilling. It helps crisp the skin. (as long as you cook at hotter temps)...

    Gear

Outdoorsman is a good one. I have the micro and use it with a 85mm scope that's about 10 oz heavier then yours. Sometimes I wish I had their regular pan head to try as the micro is better suited for 65mm and smaller spotters. But it looks down solid and holds my scope fine. Just gets a little...

    Gear

Slik Pro 634 CFL (the model with the flip locks) is what I'd recommend. I have the twist locks, and much prefer the flip style of my older tripods. The 634 is tall enough to use standing up. But light and compact enough to throw in the pack. If you didn't care about standing use, the 624 CFL...

    Compact Tractor and Dealer Options

    1. Buy the most HP you can afford. One series bigger then you think you need, if you can swing it. Check out the 3038E if you're not looking for a cabbed tractor. 2. For me it came down to local service and parts, and that pretty much left me with JD. I would stick with JD or Kubota. 3. I...

    Pack sling/gun bearer

Doesn't bother me any, but if I were to re sell it I'm sure it'd bother some. - - - Updated - - - Do guys secure the butt somehow? Or can you get around pretty good hands free in some rough terrain? Looks like in a couple pictures you still got your hand back there to keep the butt from...
