I would guess the only chance at increasing consistency is if you glass bed it, which is not difficult at all. Youtube has many examples.

NDA Ammo and Reloading Component TRADE thread

Yep, I saw both 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC. They also had CCI 450s -- at twice the price of a year ago, but whatcha gonna do?

    Frame packs: Overwhelmed

Kuiu, Kuiu, and Kuiu. I have an older Icon Pro 7200 that has carried many elk and deer. I've loaded it up with so much meat that I can't even stand up straight, and it has handled it. https://www.kuiu.com/pages/hunting-backpack-comparison-guide I guess they're a little above your price...

    Knots...Braided to Mono

Just tied my first Alberto knot. It's definitely smaller than a double-uni. Measured with my calipers. Tying a 15# Seaguar floro leader to 10# Fireline. Alberto: .040" Double-uni: .056"

    Knots...Braided to Mono

My brother uses the FG. Takes 4 hands and a shoehorn to tie it. No thanks, I'll settle for a slightly fatter knot.

    Knots...Braided to Mono

I've always used the double uni. That Alberto knot looks a lot easier to tie. Seems like it should be just as strong. Thanks for sharing.

    Triggers

Which Geissele do you have? I have two of the High Speed National Match triggers in a couple ARs, and (other than the first stage takeup) they have no creep, and are my favorite AR triggers to date. I prefer a two-stage trigger, especially in an AR. I also have an AR Gold trigger. It breaks...

    So I bought some land...

Oh... pretty good. I bought a water tank for the back of my truck and have done a pretty good job keeping the new trees watered. I've only lost a few. I've also had to learn how to fence. I grew up a pig and crop farmer, so it's new to me. I have a new-found respect for ranchers, and...

    Tax deductions on farm equipment

I was thinking a new truck, but that may be more difficult to justify. Although I do use my truck to haul water for my new trees, which are a cattle wind break...

Yeah, and 15x to 18x on the top end is more than enough to shoot 400 yards.

    Tax deductions on farm equipment

I'm sure the correct answer is "ask your tax person", and I will, but I thought I'd ask the peanut gallery as well. I have some land that I rent out for cash rent, both crop land and pasture. I've had to do quite a bit of fencing and I bought a "brush hog" type cutter to do some mowing --...

    Rifle Scope

You may want to re-think 6x on the low end. Not sure what your deer hunting style and terrain are like, but you may have trouble at close range. I think 3-15x or 3-18x or similar would be ideal for your stated use.

Also, you'll be able to bench 50% more, you'll get a raise, and the ladies will be lined up outside your door.

    E-85 flex fuel

I run it in my Silverado when the price difference makes sense. As others have said, it will reduce milage about 10%, so it needs to be at least 10% cheaper. My truck runs just fine on it, and seems to have extra snort.

    Corner jumping court case.

One side asserts common sense like "public land should be publicly accessible". The other side wants to keep land that they don't own or pay taxes on for their own personal use. I'm both a landowner and a hunter. I know which side I'm on...

    Corner jumping court case.

This is nothing new. It's been going on for over a century. It's only just recently, with the advent of detailed mapping at your fingertips that it has become more obvious just how much "public" land is not available to the public. Also, while I love the idea of public land just as much as...

    Corner jumping court case.

Yeah, that's a total cave to the outfitter lobby. Any granola munching hippy can wander around WY wilderness at will, but if you are carrying a bow or rifle, suddenly you need a "guide".

    Hybrid Poplars from Hell

Ok, that makes more sense. American varieties of elm are the majestic spawn of God himself. Chinese elm, not so much.

    Hybrid Poplars from Hell

You should be so lucky. I'd slap my own grandma to have just one mature elm in my yard.

Why is the youth deer season so short?

We found sucess last year. I'm very much concentrated on the kid. I could pretty much care less about shooting a deer with a rifle myself. I'm focused on providing him opportunities to enjoy the outdoors, which is why it would be nice if that window was a little wider.
