    Rangefinder Binoculars

Looks like you're in Bismark. If you were in the Fargo area, I'd let you try mine out. I agree with SDMF, you'll start to wonder how you were ever without them. We're coming into the golden age of range finding binos where there's suddenly a lot of options, the tech is really good, and you...

    Rangefinder Binoculars

My brother has the Leica HD-B 3000, and the optics in them are top tier. However, I have the SIGs at less than half price, and to my eye, the glass is very good, and the rangefinder is incredible. I have no problem ranging anything at much farther distances than I can shoot. I ranged a fish...

DIY Duracoat - It can be done

Did another AR-10 for a buddy. ARs are a pain in the ass, but it turned out pretty dang good.

    Cormorants

That same combo is even more spectacular on prairie dogs. Some times there's not enough parts left to tell what it was. - - - Updated - - - I'd kill them both and put ten through the nest just to be sure.

Proposed WY big game price increases

That is a horseshit law. I prefer to target wilderness areas to avoid people and find elk. Not in WY. I need a guide there. ;:;banghead

Proposed WY big game price increases

I've also wondered at what point people stop going. I'm not there yet, but I'm certainly getting annoyed. The tag fee is just the beginning. Then there's habitat stamps and application fees and archery fees and so on. Also, a few states (CO just started doing this) require that you buy a...

    Snowshoes

I run the military surplus magnesium shoes: https://colemans.com/snowshoes-g-i-magnesium-and-binding-combo They're great shoes, very lightweight. They're maybe not as good in really fluffy snow as the more modern shoes, but they're quieter. However, the included bindings suck. You'd also want...

    .30-06 & h4350?

I don't own one, but H4350 seems like a decent choice for 30-06 and 165gr bullets. I don't think that's the issue. Have you found any Factory loads that shoot well? If not, it's likely something about the rifle itself (stock bedding, scope mounts, etc), or it's you. If I can assume your...

    Favorite Reloading Components

For the 7 mag, you'll probably want something slower burning like H1000 or Retumbo. I'm also a fan of TTSX for any game you want to eat. For shooting steel or varmints, there are better and cheaper options (ELDM and V-Max respectively). Screw loading for a 223. There are good options that are...

One man's quest for 1000 Coyotes

His primary goal is to hit a number, not necessarily to get the best quality furs. Better furs are worth more money, but at a certain point, volume trumps quality.

7mm Rem Mag vs 300 Win Mag

This is a debate as old as the two cartridges. You can't really go wrong with either one. Maybe you should first find the rifle you want and then see which chamberings are available for it. If you can have both in the rifle of choice, then flip a coin.

    Athlon Optics

Have not seen their spotting scopes, but I run an Ares ETR on one of my rifles. It is very nice. I have scopes that cost twice as much, and it stacks up well against them.

    AR15 Pistol

Some of those bullpups like the Desert Tech MDR can be configured to eject brass on either side. I'm a lefty too, but shooting right-handed ARs doesn't bother me in the slightest, as long as they got shell deflectors and ambi saftey selectors. - - - Updated - - - I *think* I see what you did...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

@PrairieGhost how much 4350 are you using to get 2875fps out of a 24" barrel? That's pretty fast for a 140 class bullet. Seems like you either have an extra fast barrel, or you're living near the upper pressure limit. For comparison, I get 2850fps out a 26" Benchmark with 41.8gr of H4350...

Be careful when buying your wife/gf a Xmas gift

Funny, #3 above was the only thing that caught my eye in that Ad. She was skinny to begin with. My guess is that was on purpose so they wouldn't get any flack about "fat shaming", but this thread proves yet again that there are people out there (I would guess nearly 100% of them vote dem) that...

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

Agreed. To be clear, I don't give a shit what anyone shoots. Sometimes it's cool just to have something different, like a 6.5x284. There is no "best" cartridge for everything, but there are several points to consider when picking one. Just trying to add some of those points to the conversation.

    Buying a new gun..Dilemma

I agree that's a poor reason to pick a caliber, but what many people miss is the efficiency of the Creed, x47 Lapua, etc. For example, for a given bullet, I can nearly match the velocity of your 6.5x284 with a 6.5 Creed, all while burning between 5 and 10 grains less powder. That means nothing...
