    Big Lake

    Not too early, but I was at Douglas this past weekend at my cabin and there wasn’t much open between shore and the sheet of ice. At night what little open water there was froze up with a crust. Maybe by this weekend there will be a few places to get a line in.

    Adding a Kicker - Opinions Wanted

    I have the 15 hp merc pro kicker with fuel injection and really like it. I highly recommend the EFI as opposed to carbs. I think the Suzuki is pretty solid as well and it comes in a 9.9 with EFI I believe. just my $.02.

    They are just in a different area of the lake and or feeding in different areas. There are plenty of nice fish left in the system, and frankly it’s really good to see a strong group of those smaller fish. We were seeing so many 20+” fish i was starting to wonder what the more recent year...

    Vacuum sealer recommendations

    I bought a Nesco about 3-4 months ago. So far so good. I like the way the lid locks down better than my old food saver. The food saver did great for about 10-12 years so don’t have anything bad to say about it. I just wore it out. I thought I’d give the Nesco a try.

    I have one and love it. Make sure if making more than one to let the stone get back up to temp before putting in the second pizza or crust will be a bit doughy. 10-15 minutes will do it.

    I’ve tried fishing Sak after dark but never really had any luck to speak of. It’s been years ago. I’d be interested to know if others have had success.

    Agreed. The smaller the diameter the trickier the wraps are. One of the most useful tricks I’ve learned is using a piece of braid fishing line for pulling your thread under the wraps. It’s slick and won’t break.

    CRB blanks aren’t comparable to St Croix. MHX on the other hand make some dang nice blanks. I think the price stated above is flipped around.

    Sak water levels

    Lake is as high as I’ve seen it this late in the year that I can recall. I’m guessing down about 5’ from the high water mark from this summer. They dropped it a lot last year but it was a close call this year anyway. They definitely have to dump some water through the winter months if they can.

    Totally planned. He wanted to get cut. He gets complete free agent status by manipulating the situation and can play where he wants. Patriots tried to trade for him before and Steelers wouldn’t trade him to Pittsburgh.
